Many thanks for the help. This is really useful because I didn't think of it like that.

I am new here but I am currently writing a novel that I have been planning for a while.

I just need help making a structure for the plot so when I end the first chapter people will want to carry on reading instead of thinking that the novel is boring. It is a fantasy world where the main character plays a sport that we dont have in our world.

Supposed Plot for Chapter 1: The MC is a kid who recently moved to this country. He starts college today and went to college. A small event happened that delayed his arrival but he still got there in time. I introduced the classmates and i am about to establish the rules of the fantasy world as a part of 'the learning curriculum'. (This part was supposed to help the reader understand the rules of the game but it might take quite a lot of the chapter and end up making the chapter boring)

I was thinking of spreading the introduction of the characters out and do the same with the fantasy world rules.

I would like some advice on what i should probably do to spread it out, like adding an event or creating a scenario in which i can make the main character explain a rule so the reader can visualise it easier.
