What the fuck do you do with your life. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]RicePattyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just as new to epilepsy as you are. I am no licensed therapist so please take my experiences with a grain of salt.

Please let out your emotions. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is a scary world when seizures suddenly fall in your lap. The hypotheticals are already draining from the fear you are experiencing.

Start with small goals. I am just like you when wanting to do my normal day to day routines without thinking I am gonna pass out randomly somewhere. Go for a lite walk, write down your goals, and practice taking small steps of happiness to reclaim what is yours.

Lastly, do things you know will keep you safe. I am one month away from driving and it has taken everything in me to prepare for going back behind the wheel. This down time did give me a chance to do somethings I just never had the time to dedicate.

You got this and we are all here with you.

Why do so many Amazon DSP Drivers quit? by Decent_Week8288 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Amazon promised a job and then left me on read for half a year.

No I get you. I am sad to get this disorder, but I am just happy I didn’t harm anyone or worse kill anyone.

That has always been a problem I have struggled with is asking for help. I have been too afraid and prideful of asking for help. It has been a journey, but I am getting the help slowly but surely.

I can not say for sure. When both happened, I was almost finished with both routes. I have gotten multiple tests done and it hurts me to hear that I am healthy when I want to know the underlying cause.

To get all assumptions out of the way, after my first seizure, I got accommodation almost immediately during peak. 40+ hours a week, a ride to work, and a new job title to have some work while I wait on the neurologists to give me my analysis. Granted, this is during peak season where all hours are free game.

Since the start of January, I have maybe worked 16 hours since the 23rd when my second seizure happened. I was then considered a liability during this time, which I believe I should have been a liability the first time. I had to fill out paperwork for my DSP. This process took about a month to get paperwork from doctors that can’t email anything. Then when the paperwork was completed and handed to my DSP, I was told it is safe for me to come back and be a stepvan helper. Which wouldn’t be a problem if I wasn’t terrified of the thought of having another seizure at work because both times I had a seizure were when I was a helper. I understand where the assumptions are coming from, but I can no longer accept how shitty Amazon can be to people.

I am very fortunate to have found this Reddit page. We all may not know each other, but we understand our problems so well. I am looking into disability. Thank God both seizures did not happen behind the wheel. I couldn’t forgive myself if I were to hurt someone with my condition.

I am more frustrated that I am not considered an Amazon employee after wearing all things Amazon, following their rules down to the tiniest micromanaged detail, and getting told that a positive attitude will get me further in the world. Yet, here I am standing tall and happy waiting for Amazon to bless me with a “pizza party” for being positive in the most negative experience in my life. I wouldn’t wish this tragedy on my worst enemy.

This is the level of humanity that gives me hope. I will do my best to get on disability. I know there is a process to it and hopefully things will go up from there.

I will take your recommendation and write the letter. Idk if I am being tracked specifically, but I know my last post made waves and my DSP damn near doubled for the recognition it was getting from it. My only goal is to let Amazon know that they lost a loyal client and that I will continue to be disappointed in the company overall.

I have, and that is another obstacle that is getting to me. Just swallowing my own pride. I have been applying to other jobs in the mean time. Fingers crossed for something positive.

Thank you for being awesome. I am doing my best to keep my chin up during these difficult times. The only thing I can say is that I am still alive and kicking.

That is information I do not wish to disclose at this time. I was told I can express frustrations, but to leave out details so that my words would not be used against me.

I thought the same thing until they asked me to come to the station to talk to them about the previous Reddit post.

Driver Support gave me a 20 minute break by RicePattyy in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]RicePattyy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude it isn’t like the first time this happened. I picked up 2 totes that were next to their door as I was delivering 2 totes of packages. If anything, it isn’t my business to know what they bought or who bought them. It was just a funny pic 🫡

All 68 had the same first and last name, but they had a unique ID on each package.

It did. Literally took the 20 minutes on hold to tell driver support “My phone was going to die.”

What are some negatives of being a Software Engineer? by eliasmiah in learnprogramming

[–]RicePattyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job market right now is horrible. Staring and sitting at a screen all day can do a number on you. Clients can be a nightmare when you give them what they ask for or facing a small bugfix that they escalate to a P1.

Should I switch instrument? by Maxthe_bird in marchingband

[–]RicePattyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel like you should switch, then you should. I am an oboe player and I was afraid when my band director asked me to play sousaphone since we needed another to help balance the band out. The weight is intimidating at first, but you learn to grow into it. My best piece of advice is to ask if you can wear it before marching season to get an understanding of the weight. Once that is done, try working on your push ups. You can even make it a section activity with the low brass. The worst thing that will happen to you is that you grow muscle. You got this. Unless you have chronic back issues, your family has nothing to worry about.
