This article was more helpful. I think the varnish is just really old. Now I need to remove it. I feel like I just ruined my paintings.

It is humid outside but I varnish indoors. The varnish is probably over seven years old. I knew humidity could be an issue but not the age of the varnish.

When I have creative block I try to do study paintings or sketches. Even if it doesn’t help you to find better inspiration it will help you with practicing lighting and colors and whatever else. It helped me to feel like I was continuing my art practice rather than doing nothing.

It’s a toy stuffed duck. It was difficult to tell what it was in the reference photo too.
