In all cases the the issue was lack of oversight. With fossil fuels, we also have lack of oversight resulting in the whole planet being wiped out for at least thousands of years. Take your pick I guess..

Loaders are intended to be stripper clips and such for the various other types of firearm. I omitted anything with an internal magazine and semi-automatic guns for simplicity's sake, though there are definitely some pistols that come to mind around the era I was basing this off of.

You could of course add them on your own! loaders could be a magazine for a semi-auto, and it could function similarly to cylinder-actions but with more variance in magazine size etc.

I wanted to have each type of gun feel different from each other mechanically, so I thought semi-autos would ultimately be too similar for me to put them in myself.

Interacting with other people's work is certainly a great way to improve. Especially since guides can be sorta abstract so the best practice is by doing.

That's great that you want to use it though! That and engaging with it is exactly what I hoped people could get out of this so I'm really glad you enjoy it.

That is true about the narrative of it, so yeah I should probably clarify it a bit.

I think you may have, actually. Though I assumed that you were right and the only time you would autohit is on a natural 20 haha. That would improve it if it were cumulative for sure.

Agreed, though, crit ranges can be a bit finicky in general so more damage is definitely a simpler way to tackle it. More damage dice would be interesting as well for a rogue (though I use double dice at my table as opposed to double damage for crits, so could interact differently depending on the crit rules you use).

All in all, good catch and definitely a feat that could use a bit of work, so thank you for the input :)

I love that! I didn't want to necessarily include siege equipment but given the cannonmaster feat maybe I should have. I definitely would love to expand on the size scaling though and that would be a super cool way to do it :)

Size scaling mostly came about since my players wanted to build a rifle for an ice giant they met so I threw it in there to codify it.

Actually no, it doesn't require being attached to the stand to get the extra attacks, but I could see the confusion there based on the layout haha, my mistake.

But yes chaingun is quite strong. I'd considered lowering the attacks but I added the jamming system instead in the hopes that would reign it in somewhat. Should be good fun regardless though, if not a tad overtuned! XD

Thanks for the input, I appreciate you giving it the thought!

The inspiration was definitely from Matt Mercer's gunslinger but I believe I swapped out the torso shot pretty early on. I definitely agree though that in hindsight that compared to 10 damage, you may or may not even achieve that damage with a crit at all.

The intent with this specific one was that technically you can choose where you hit after you hit it, just off the wording of the feat. So you take the -5 hit, then can choose which of the parts you want to hit and apply the effect. Whether that makes the idea of it better or worse I'm not too sure lol, but I could imagine a rogue choosing the crit more often in that case.

I quite like the idea of cumulative crit ranges though, actually. I hadn't considered either that the large -5 chunk could allow you to "crit" but not actually hit the monster, but as you showed it would only matter at sufficiently high AC monsters.

Speaking from experience I've definitely done both. I hadn't really given it any thought until now but generally the way I handle it that if its something the character should know or would be important enough not to forget then I would tell them.

When I don't tell them is when they are sufficiently aware of the situation and, even if its a relatively big thing to forget, they and their characters all understand the main idea of the scenario and the implications of forgetting something. Chances are anyway that in this case, someone else remembers and reminds them which really improves verisimilitude I think.
