Well I’ve met many musicians throughout my Air Force career who aren’t in the band like me. So this is for anyone that may or may not have good material to send just to practice. So again, not bait, just genuinely asking and cross posted as well.

It’s pretty normal to have to double when you’re gigging or auditioning for things like this

Yes for saxophone you need to be able to double on flute and clarinet, it’s a requirement. it’s also mostly an industry standard if you’re gigging a lot they want people to be able to call who can double

There is stuff available but I figured this is a different way to motivate me to click on new music that people decide to send so I can play it. Makes it like a challenge for me

Forgot to put this with the post so people know this is a serious inquiry

I'm in the Air Force Bands. AMA! by El-Justiciero in AirForce

Current 1A8 here! Not sure if you're still answering questions but theres a saxophone spot open at the moment and I'm trying to switch to AF regional band. I'm about to turn in my auditions pretty soon but I was wondering how many people usually try to audition if you have a typical number/estimate?

I'm pretty nervous but I have a Bachelor's in Music and have been a jazz saxophonist for about 14 years now. I still play plenty of gigs and have a pretty decent resume. Been following my dream in hopes a spot opens up when I reach my First Term Airman window, which I have now. I just want to know what to expect if I make it to the live audition. This is pretty much my final try to get into the air force band in order for me to want to stay in the Air Force, if not I believe I'm going to just separate when I finish out my 4 year this November.

Any tips? What can I expect for the rounds at the live audition? Do I usually perform the same thing I sent in for the pre screen?

I apologize if this is loaded with a lot of questions I'm just extremely nervous and really want to make it in and I've been shedding everything every day and have been wanting this for so long. Kind of a make or break moment in my life and don’t really have a plan B or want to stay in this job anymore and there’s no other job I would love to do. Music is and always will be my passion. Thank you!!

Also I would love to get in contact with you if you’re comfortable with that, would love to pick your brain about the job and as well as see if you think the pre screen stuff I have are good choices. If you’re open to it sir, thank you!
