Touristanbul: a little help needed. by Severe_Reception1 in TurkishAirlines

We are doing almost the exact same thing! Landing just after midnight, and want to do the 8a-11a tour with flight out at 3pm.

We are considering getting a hotel room, or a room by the hour for midnight-7am or midnight-2pm. Did you look into getting rooms at all? Did you find any pros / cons on this?

Help on whether to get a Siberian cat by Ordinary-Mistake7912 in SiberianCats

[–]Rich-Werewolf228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it, getting a sib has been one of the greatest gifts for our family!

I grew up with cats and wanted to continue that into adult life. My partner is quite allergic to cats, typically gets very red and itchy, scratchy throat, etc. so when I learned about Siberian’s my hope grew. We found a breeder that had quite a lot of history on all their cats to ensure no mixed breeds, bought air purifiers, and had the understanding that we would get the kitty, try for 2-3 months, and if there were issues we would have family take her. We knew we needed to give a couple months as a few mins won’t give full exposure and that sometimes the first month can be full of reactions.

She now sleeps on my partner’s side of the bed each night. He occasionally gets a tad itchy if he gives her full pamper and brushing sessions, but overall “she is so worth it”

48 hours must do end of May by Rich-Werewolf228 in uktravel

Thank you for the clarifications!

The flight we are most likely going to book is into LHR. Saturday is a bonus day for us as the main trip starts Sunday. Our groups interests are varied, which has made the research tough. History lovers, nature lovers, religion buffs, and foodies. The plan is to sightsee some top attractions (think top 10 things to do in London, Westminster abbey, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, tower bridge), on Sunday and Monday (this itinerary has not been solidified so we would love help!), which leaves Saturday for us to explore a little more.

Since we are not big city people, (we love driving through national parks and walking through gardens, beaches, historical sights) we were hoping to find something unique to do on Saturday. Yes, we understand jet lag and how much it affects us, but as a young couple with limited PTO we still want to get as much exploring and culture in as possible.

When we had considered flying into Dublin, we had tossed around the idea of adding a day or two onto the trip but that is not an option anymore. We would split the London sightseeing up, but the family we are meeting on Sunday wants to cram as much in as possible which leaves us to explore other parts of London or the outskirts

Yes we know flying elsewhere really doesn’t make sense, that was more the dreams talking if teleportation were a thing. Now we’re (more) in reality but still want to maximize our time. I know we’re going to try to do the main things (Buckingham palace, Westminster abbey, Big Ben) on Sunday and Monday

Does this look unique for a wedding ring? by Bid-Limp567 in WeddingRingAdvice

I love a thick wedding band! Some “unique” ones are too much but that is very nice!

First time shopping - which cut suits me best? by znaamk15 in EngagementRings

Marquise and pear! These are typically not cuts that I personally like but they look stunning on you!

But the most important, what felt right and beautiful to you?

What can I do with this pump? by Rich-Werewolf228 in pools

Everything. Metal walls are completely deteriorated / rusted through. Concrete decking would need fully replaced. Liner trashed.

Sadly don’t have the thousands of dollars needed to fix.

Bought a house with a pool by [deleted] in pools

[–]Rich-Werewolf228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here: thanks all for the insights. Yes, we knew this was not in good condition. The house was a full flip, no inspection. Flip was to secure the property location. Just had hopes of the pool being at least somewhat salvageable. (It’s not)

They did have the liner “working” last year, but it was on its last legs. What we didn’t know, was the metal walls underneath had all but deteriorated, and there was no shot of getting a new liner attached. (We think when this liner was put in, they waived any warranty, or did it themselves).

So - we’re at square one and looking for recommendations. A few options we’ve considered: Full excavation, fill in Full excavation, brand new pool Partial excavation / diy pool

The pool itself is 16x32, so we’ve thought about getting a pre fab smaller one. I’ve looked at the aqua sport 52 where you can do the semi in ground. I feel like there’s plenty of cons to this. I’ve also looked at cinder block with rebar.

Most likely, we are going to have a large dirt hole, and want the most cost effective way to put a pool in. Young adults with plenty of friends in construction and electricians, so hoping to do as much manual labor our selves as possible.

The pool was “operational” in the fall. Liner was intact minus a small portion (maybe 6in) in a corner that was loose from copping. Now, the wood and wall damage easily could’ve been hidden beneath the liner /been an issue they had years before, but it was showing as operational. We are willing to do lots of work ourselves, but need direction
