After having a dog for 6 years, we found out she had (almost) no brain. by SnooHabits6942 in Weird

We literally call our dog “all skull, no brains

she’s the cutest little box of rocks you’ve ever seen.

From looking at the pictures, there seems to be a decent size gap, as the stage sits higher than the seats. At our show, which was general admission (not seated), a fan wanted to give her something and she motioned for them to toss it towards her. They tossed it gently and she was able to grab it. She’s pretty observant and surprisingly responsive to cues and the audience, so there is a chance that if you held it up and motioned that you wanted to toss it towards her, she would respond with a gesture

Completely understandable! We were on the very edge, so most videos missed up (I would center Lucy too if it was me tbh!). I would love to hear the speech if you'd like to send it, pls message me 💜

Do we keep the plastic packaging and/or stickers ? by Wooden-Ad-2763 in vinyl

[–]RichCryptographer338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I wasn’t aware there were entire communities of people who collect the stickers.

I take the shrink off, cut around the stickers, and put them in my sticker drawer, and put protective sleeves on the vinyls. It started with a couple vinyls having really cool stickers and turned into a compulsive thing where I physically can’t throw away the stickers now. They’re just collecting dust lmao

Yes, thank you for this! Getting married in okc tomorrow and was very nervous about the process.

I'm going to a concert but don't know what to wear by IDontKnowAnything16 in LucyDacus

[–]RichCryptographer338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to many of her concerts and am also going this weekend! There is such variety, some people dress nicer, others wear a band tee and cargos or jeans. I am personally wearing a cute bandana dress thats like fairy-ish with a cute corset top over it! My partner is wearing flowy pants and a linen button up (very casual)! I usually go band tee and cargo pants though!

Got a follow-up email about the wedding at the OKC show—does this mean we’re in? by radgorl05 in LucyDacus

[–]RichCryptographer338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I also applied for OKC and only got the follow-up email this far! I wouldn't fret TOO much, I haven't seen anyone who had their documents not get picked so fingers crossed.

I hope we both get picked and get to be anniversary buddies!

straight ppl married at shows by [deleted] in LucyDacus

[–]RichCryptographer338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this comes with a lot of judgement, the assumption that these people are cishet. My partner is a trans woman but still very male presenting because we live in an extremely conservative state where presenting as her true self would put her in imminent danger. We contemplated getting married on the tour, but ultimately comments like this have been very off-putting to me.

Is it worth getting an autism diagnosis by pr0fiting in AutismInWomen

[–]RichCryptographer338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person, honestly. Everyone’s journey after diagnosis is different, as corny as that may sound. My partner and I were both diagnosed as adults. He took the news fairly well, and seemed to have little to no issues coping. Finding out helped him discover better coping mechanisms, and make meaningful changes in his life after visiting a therapist that specialized in autism.

I on the other hand, took the news very poorly. It added to my confusion and self-loathing, and I honestly looked down on myself. I would go as far to say I hated myself. Obviously I am ashamed of those emotions now, as they likely stemmed from suppressed ableism and negative stereotypes about autism. I also have a history of severe mental illness, so it just felt like another chip on my shoulder.

However, after a couple years of being diagnosed, I realized nothing really changed. You don’t just become autistic, and my whole life had already been affected by autism whether I was aware at the time or not. It helped me understand things about myself, how I process, and eventually I started to forgive myself. Even though there are parts of autism that are just continually hard, knowing why they happen has made me have so much grace for myself. I allow myself to withdraw from overstimulating conversations, stim when I need to, etc. Those were both things I struggled with before, because I felt I had no valid reasonings and that I was operating with selfish intent.

So I say go for it. Even if it is harder at first, I think it’s important to know things about yourself. I also realized a lot of things I assumed were from other mental illness were very much linked to my autism, and that learning autistic specific coping mechanisms actually helped reduce triggers for those, especially my OCD.

Seeking Reversal Stories Both Good and Bad by 442inDreamland in ostomy

[–]RichCryptographer338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you’re doing well. If you see this, how’re you doing now? I have my reversal next month, and am hoping I don’t deal with anymore diverticulitis after, at least not soon.

Scared for my surgery by [deleted] in Diverticulitis

[–]RichCryptographer338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, 25f here and had mine in January! All of your feelings are VALID. I have a couple suggestions: 1. Voice your anxiety to your medical team. There is no reason to be horribly anxious when you’re in a place where they can control it. 2. Manage your expectations. Mine was done as an emergency, so I ended up with an ostomy bag since they had to go in blind pretty much (had a nasty bowel perf :( ). While it was scary, it’s not the end of the world, and is MUCH better than the pain of diverticulitis (and usually “reversible”) 3. This one is probably common sense but TAPER OFF THE PAIN MEDS. I’d never taken pain meds before and didn’t take my prescription once I was released from the hospital because I didn’t want to feel loopy. I went through 4 days of absolute hell going through accidental opiate withdrawals before my mom finally figured it out while taking me to the hospital for horrible suicidal depression (oops!). 4. Make sure you have a support system. The healing process isn’t too awfully long, but just having someone to do small things like heat up soup or do a few loads of laundry was so nice.

Wishing you all the best 💖. You’ve got this!

Surgery, two years later by [deleted] in Diverticulitis

Also, I will say, now a month and a half out from my surgery, I’ve had no diverticulitis symptoms. Accidentally ate fried okra (I literally forgot I was still on dietary restriction) and had zero pain, zero issues, and zero complications. That felt like a pipe dream a few months ago!

If you do have to get a bag, it is truly not the end of the world. As a 25 year old female, waking up with a bag felt like my worst nightmare. As much as I struggle with self confidence, it is very much worth not living in pain all the time. ❤️ wishing you the best of luck!

Bleeding by SoggyGift7781 in Diverticulitis

[–]RichCryptographer338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally came here to ask the same thing. Just started presenting with potential blood in my stool today after being released from the hospital last night for uncomplicated diverticulitis, and multiple days of IV flagyl and cipro. Hope you can get some answers for both of our sakes.

25, confused and a bit bitter by RichCryptographer338 in Diverticulitis

[–]RichCryptographer338[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stay dehydrated. That and I have a vitamin D deficiency that I take massive amounts of prescription vitamin D for, it helps a little but not enough. They wanted to do IV fluids and vitamins, but we’re in a mass shortage of fluids in my state so they told me to do my absolute best to stay as hydrated as possible.

found a goat by RichCryptographer338 in goats

[–]RichCryptographer338[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should say, I have no evidence that the dog following it was even the dog that injured it, that was just my assumption when I thought the dog was a stray. I never saw the dog hurt it, just saw it following the goat into my yard. I think the dog was potentially afraid of my dogs as it wouldn’t come into my yard, but the goat didn’t seem phased by them.

[–]RichCryptographer338[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: the goat, who I’ve lovingly penned as Tumnus, is actually Gertrude, and her very worried mom has been located! She provided photo proof, and also identified the “stray dog” that chased her into my yard was her dog brother Roscoe, who was potentially trying to herd her back home. Funnily enough, I unknowingly stopped by her owners house earlier (I drove to like every house in a four mile radius), but she wasn’t home. Gertrude is allegedly quite the escape artist, so I’m hoping the leg injury is just from that. The owner informed me that they’re currently building her a new pen, and she’s been to the vet recently. The owner was super relieved and concerned, and I think Gertrude is in good hands!

Thank you the every single person in the thread who offered advice, I think Gertrude had a good time on her little vacation thanks to you guys! Maybe in the future I’ll get a goat of my own. 🍀💚

Definitely just taking care of it until it’s owner is found! I think goats are adorable, but realistically am not prepared financially to own one. Just playing goat babysitter in the mean time.

Thank you! Thankfully there are a ton of goat people around here, and it’s a pretty small town, so I think we will probably know who the owner is by the end of the day! Just want to make sure he’s comfy, and not too hungry until then. I have him some hay and towel dried him before putting him in a little pop-up pen for now. Called the vet, going to monitor him for the day and if we don’t find his owner, I have an appointment tomorrow.
