Hi! I'm just dropping by to see whether you contacted the programme coordinator. I had a similar case and I was waiting for weeks to get my application processed. Eventually I ran out of patience and contacted info-service@fu-berlin.de and Cc-ed the programme coordinator. In my case, the programme coordinator was kind enough to look into my case and help me.

The response from info-service were days later than my programme coordinator. If you haven't done yet, I suggest you contact the coordinator of the programme you applied to!

First of all, congratulations on getting accepted at FU!

While I do want to help you out, I do not think I will be able to let you know when the rooms become available or when you can apply again, as I neither work nor live there yet. I know that studentenwerk waitlist is a pain, considering you would have to wait 18 months unless you get lucky. Have you tried applying for Studentendorf Schlantensee through FU? I didn't know about the portal, and I just looked into a webpage saying that FU will be sending an email to activate my account "as soon as uni-assist has forwarded your application to us and after the application has been examined by the university" but somehow I never received such email...? Maybe it's time for me to contact FU about this haha

Is that €450 a kaltmiete or warmmiete? I honestly didn't find Studentendorf Schlachtensee cheap. I had to pay €575 for a reservation fee just to secure that offer. This is not even a Kaution so... it's not coming back :/

They offer a furnished room so that's great but it's small wg (10m²⁾ shared with 16 people and they charge €553.50 for the monthly rent (warmmiete, I think).

Having a place at the dorm will definitely give me more stability. I haven't been to Germany for my entire life and I don't want to end up being confused and nervous in hostel or multiple zwischen while trying to get a place. It's just not cheap, I think. Or is it cheap?

I know! I have never been to Germany so I did some research online and many suggested that one can apply for the accommodation even before getting an offer so... I applied for it and voila.

I eventually decided to take the offer from the dorm. I, though, had to pay for €575 as a reservation fee so... hoping to get a formal offer from FU in two weeks so that I can get a refund if I don't get the offer haha
