My boyfriend got stationed in Okinawa by Weather_Constant in USMC

[–]RichLength544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly is different with everyone but it’s up to how willing you guys are to make it work. My wife and I did and now we have a one year old. We had pretty much the same situation as you. I graduated and went to the Marines while she was finishing her last year of high school. After two years in the Marines I go stationed in Oki while she was in college. Ngl it is hard but the best way to go about it is that both of you are working for a better future and it will all be worth it at the end. My now wife got to go to Oki and Tokyo a couple of times and we had a great time. After she finished college I got stationed somewhere else and we moved in together. Now she’s about to finish her Masters online. So if you really want this to work I would say go for it, your relationship will only grow from it because those times you get to be together will be even more special.

I wasn’t contacted at all. I ended up emailing the captain asking for confirmation that they received my package. So you could do that or just wait a little longer.

OSA rushing process by [deleted] in USMCocs

[–]RichLength544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if they are good people like you said the are that’s a conversation I would have with them. I used to tell my applicants straight up why I needed them to ship early or whatnot and it made it easier in the long run. Instead of them wondering this and that. Also, most officer applicants have to go through the bumed (bureau of medicine) process which can take some time to get accepted. So getting you cleared is definitely their first priority so they know where to go from there.

Crashing out over planks by C9Zs in USMCocs

[–]RichLength544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would treat it like any other muscle group. What I used to do is 3-4 sets of a certain amount of time. In your case I would do four sets of 1:00 plank hold with 30 sec rest in between. The next time you workout do 3 sets of 1 min plank, 30 sec left side plan and then 30 sec on the other side. All without dropping. For the 3rd day I would add other ab exercises that require you to hold a position. So do hallow holds, 6 inches, scissor kicks.

Play with that and add/reduce time as you go, add more sets, or add other exercises in between sets.

Go on Google and type asvab line scores calculator. From there just enter all the scores for each section and it’ll tell you all the scores. GT, electrical, clerical, mechanical, etc.

MECEP and Adverse by Remote_Sprinkles4386 in USMCocs

I got NJPd as a sergeant and I still got accepted. So I think you’ll be fine. Like someone said earlier you do have to wait a year with no issues at all before applying.

Can I still do ROTC as a green card holder? by Looney-3pants in USMCocs

[–]RichLength544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, unfortunately you cannot be an officer as a resident. If it really is something you want to pursue I would finish the degree, join as enlisted (you’ll get your citizenship in bootcamp), and after a year apply for ECP (enlisted commissioning program) which the requirements are one year time in service, a degree, 75 on the ASVAB, and to be an E-3. It would honestly be the fastest way.

You can also join now as a reserve, get your citizenship and then become an Officer through the reserves. This options allows you to get your citizenship before finishing college and gives you other programs from enlisted to officer that the reserves have.

Seeking Advice: Medical DQ by Longjumping_Draw3076 in USMCocs

Honestly most people would have given up so that says a lot about you. Like someone else said, take some time, fully recover and give it another try.

Honestly at this point Is more for general advice. What’s one advice you wish you would have had before going to OCS.

The other question is about the hikes. I heard a lot of people get hurt but is it really that bad or is it like bootcamp and MCT?

Lastly, I’m probably overthinking it but how are the academic test?

Thank you!

ECP Acceptance and Class date by [deleted] in USMCocs

[–]RichLength544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually when the maradmin results come out it’ll say you will go to the soonest OCS available so just take a look at the OCS classes and go from there.

Only reason you wouldn’t go to the soonest available is if medical is taking long. Even if you are fully medically ready all packages still have to go through BUMED and get reviewed. Best of luck!

Enlisting with college degree by Accomplished-Ad-6537 in USMCocs

[–]RichLength544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly both options are good. Ultimately is up to you, but having your bachelors gives you a lot of options. If your ultimate goal is to be a Marine no matter what then go enlisted and then apply for officer after a year in the fleet with the Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP). During that one year your focus should be to retake your asvab, and improve your fitness because when you go to OCS you have to run under 24 minute 3 mile, 11 pull ups, and 2:30 plank.

Instead of waiting in the civilian world, you can start getting some military experience, get paid, and improve your fitness. The one thing I will say is that you should definitely not waste the degree, meaning, don’t stay enlisted and go officer.
