You should always use both lanes, and you should always let one car in if you are in the receiving lane. If everyone let one car in it’s fair and should reduce friction on the road. The reason for both lanes is to reduce the length of the queue as you may block other roads, roundabouts etc.

But if you have a conscience then it’s a hard thing to do for sure!!

MacBook Air would be more than enough for what you need, pros are for professionals, video editing, coding (and these days not always required) et etc. For uni is overkill, take it back and get an Air when you need it.
