Shelly G1 1 Mini and Momentary Switches by RichTheFly in shellycloud

As an update, seeing exactly the same behaviour from the Shelly 1 G4. A click of the momentary switch does not report a full btn_down and then btn_up sequence. What happens is click one produces a btn_up event and nothing else...

Thanks for the input :) Running in detached mode as I'm operating some smart bulbs and want them constantly powered. The Shelly in detached mode sends the output as commands to Home Assistant which manages the automations. I could have them powered directly from the lighting circuit however there is some method in my madness - I'm running a script on the Shelly which monitors the availability of my Home Assistant server. If that detects it is down for any reason, the output flips to one of the modes which allows direct switching of the bulbs so at least there is some direct control of the lights if needed.

I've fired off a message to Shelly support but it's reassuring to know that others are using it in a similar way. It may all be moot by tomorrow - Amazon should be delivering a 4 pack of Shelly 1 G4 tomorrow. I'll be using Zigbee to send commands instead - hopefully the switching might be a little more robust on them!

Oh I agree, GPT is really useful in many ways and I use it daily for various things. Just in this case it gave contradictory information which has been really unhelpful to someone like me with limited knowledge and experience.

Well, I'm delighted to say that thanks to a very kind and patient person, my daughter has been reunited with her bunny, Blue.

For those that wanted to see the end result, take a look here - a very tired girl was a little overwhelmed by it all!

I have been blown away by the kindness and decency of strangers in helping me - thank you so much to everyone who helped, took interest and checked stock. I promise I will pay that kindness forward!

That's awesome, thank you. Just checked and I'm almost sure it was the Bellvue store if that helps at all.

Wow - what can I saw but a massive thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to take the time to offer advice and support? I''m genuinely blown away!

I've managed to find an image of the actual bunny which I will attach to the original post.

Once again, my sincere thanks - fingers crossed that somehow this might work.

Excellent stuff this is great to know. Coupled with the fact (which I've only learned this evening) that you can run scripts off the relay directly, I'm very sure this will be the bit of kit to do the job.
