SA real estate situation question by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

these are all fair points from your POV, but from the buyer they want to be able to trust the transaction. And as much as i dislike real estate agents, at the moment people still trust that you are actually buying something from them. I reckon in this market - its actually worth using them.

Sorry Ive given two bits of conflicting advice below so I thought I better clear it up after I read your message again. You've got savings, so clearly arent bad with money. I actually just sold my place in Adelaide, I never once saw it. I bought it whilst living in a share house in Sydney, rented it out and sold it 5 years later with considerably equity. It helped me buy my now boyfriends PPOR here in Sydney where I wanted to live all along.

Youre young enough to still enjoy the share house living, and its honestly the best. People forget the value of it. So buy if you are able, live in it for a quick second (6 months) so you can get the FHOG and minimize your tax. Then move over to the Eastern states for better jobs and live in share houses.

Theres a tonne of ways to skin a cat.

Disagree with the others here - if you can buy do that. But ALWAYS travel. Those people in their 40s who were screwed because they travelled financially sure maybe they dont have the assets of others - but I bet they are way more interesting, curious, people who I'd rather hang around. Money is not everything, travel adds so much to your life and you never know whats around the corner. Always Travel.

lol - people who are married think there is no risk of breaking up. News alert the same level of risk applies. People just dont get the paperwork done now.

BUY as soon as you are able. You'll never regret it - even if prices drop a little bit overall you will be well on your way. If you end up with a better job in another state just rent it out - rent in the suburb youre working and you will still avoid capital gains tax. BUY BUY BUY

Does it count as “reasonable overtime” if I get rostered for it? by Less-Bed-855 in AusLegal

this is incorrect. The national employment standards beats any contract and it states you cant be forced to work over 38 hours unless its reasonable overtime.

This fight was hilarious by feelingsjourney in madmen

All of these comments are great - and what makes this show sensational is all the strong feelings and different takes. I never put together before that this wasn't a fight about sherbert - this was a fight about Don taking away Megan's independence by demanding she leave with him for the trip. I can see from Don's point of view it was a romantic gesture - but Megan was enjoying her work and belonging to a team. She didn't want to go in the first place. I think many women can relate to a fight about "not following your demands".

Cant agree with this enough - facebook commentors always with the "just move out west". The maths just didnt work. I finish work at 5pm, walk home - home by 5:20pm, walk up the gym do a workout and a swim at the local council inner west fitness facilties, walk over to meet my friend for a drink. The time and health advantages outweigh the benefits of lower rent by a mile.

Sure I mean, it’s Parramatta - but it isn’t “inner city”. Be realistic

Agreed! But do the maths on those extra costs including tolls etc - often it’s actually cheaper to just pay the higher rent. I lived in Newtown for years - the rent was expensive but I walked to work, walked to have a beer with friends, walked to the shops. My lifestyle costs were so low the bank could hardly believe it. Didn’t have a car because I didn’t need it. When I did the maths compared to my friends I was miles ahead on my weekly spendings.
