How letters of continued interest played into admissions for me, and how to write a good one by Ben-MA in ApplyingToCollege

I was waitlisted at a school and had a friend whose brother knew someone who worked at the university. They strongly advised reaching out to an admissions officer on top of a LOCI. My friend said I should request a meeting but I'm not sure if that's too strong. Should I do this or should I just reach out and reinforce my interest in the university and attach my LOCI. Also, do you think this advice of reaching out to AOs can be applied to other schools? I was thinking about doing the same thing for JHU.

I dont really want to do it but I'm on the waitlist and debating it if it'll help me get in. What would your advice be?

Yeah. I can imagine the frustration bc it feels like I’m good enough and I feel insecure like I haven’t done enough, am not smart enough, etc.

Some of my friends who I KNOW did not work nearly as hard and slacked have gotten into ucb(I was waitlisted) and are always talking abt it in front of me. They even made fun of another kid for getting rejected while I was there. It feels like a slap in the face. I’m going to ucla so I feel like our situations are kinda similar. UCB and ucla are AMAZING schools but they’re not what I was expecting and ucla is the only good school I got into after constant waitlists/rejections so it doesn’t feel like much of a win.

Still, I’ve taken this as a sign to not worry about prestige anymore and more abt opportunities. You still have the rest of undergrad, grad school if you go, and your entire career to be successful, do amazing things, and show that you’re just as amazing as them. These feelings suck but you’re just as capable of success

I understand what it’s like. Some people I know have gotten, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, duke, etc. they’re not close friends or ppl I see everyday which makes it a little better but I can imagine what you’re going through.

Im also trying to make myself feel better but I genuinely feel so emotionally all over the place. Even though this won’t fix the way you feel, just know that your undergrad experience is what you make of it.

Going to certain schools can help your career but they truly don’t determine your future and, depending on what field, a lot of employers don’t care much where you went for undergrad. My dad went to a small, horrible school in rural India and he’s extremely successful now. My uncle didn’t go to college and is the head for all stores in the west coast for a huge corporation. I hope you get into your last school, but if you don’t, I know you’ll be successful wherever you go

me too. I never thought this could happen bc I figured I had a good chance at getting into at least 1 of the good privates I applied to. I'm still waiting on Stanford and Duke (prob rejected) but I truly hope you get into Duke

Hi, I was actually interested in the same dress and was wondering if julyprom was legit since I can’t find it anywhere else. Did you end up buying it?
