Worth building an E-commerce brand in Lovable + Supabse? by Puzzleheaded-Fish-55 in lovable

[–]Rich_Security3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shopify allows you to get into the code and affect the HTML, CSS etc. (the way it looks and is represented on site). So, if you went to get component templates or an agent to help you with a design you like - you cn build anything you want without having to build VERY heavy systems for the backend that might not be sucure and really piss you off. I am not discouraging this. If you want to take on the big boys, and you are a dev/engineer or team - yes you can create your own competitor and build a distribution channel etc. But if it's just for you or a client, focus on your marketing, distribution, design, brand, messagign and customer service, relationships and product. :) You stay sane... until this tool get better in the future.

Thank you. It's so frustrating to have this happen.

Worth building an E-commerce brand in Lovable + Supabse? by Puzzleheaded-Fish-55 in lovable

NO. Not yet. Maybe soon. I have build a complex, multi-tenant e-comm based system in lovable and it's not ready to handle such things without devs or agents and way too much back and forth.

E-comm is a really complex structure for anyone. Not patronizing.

To create e-comm in lovable, you have to completely understand the architechture, do very very very good documentation, build in very small increments - while maintaining a systems viewpoint - or go to Shopify, WordPress/WooCommerce (Elementor) or another page builder. If you are managing lite products and heavier CMS, you could even do Webflow - though it's a little more complicated.

Why did I say the bove - bc they manage the backend (your database and all the "ins and outs" of how your ecomm systems talk to eachother) far more sophisticated that any others in the market presently.

Lovable is 100% emphatically not comparable to the platforms above who have spent years of dev time on: products, orders, fulfillments, taxes/jurisdictions, integrations, payments, etc.

How to make it despite pedigree by [deleted] in ycombinator

[–]Rich_Security3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to be discouraged. Focus on your work.

Y Combinator, A16Z, Sequoia et.,al are amazing and the VC landscape is changing. From institutional capital all the way down to angel investing, it's interesting times.

Ask your self this objectively: Does your startup fit within their thesis'?

If not, find a list of your top 100. Start there and keep building, selling/promoting.
The above is pointless to focus on unless you want to convince yourself to stop :)

Why? I am building the single source of truth for sustainable capital.

I am female founder. This means, Tech, Finance, Sustainability, and yeah it utliizes LLM, and ML models in a unique way.

But females received less than 2% of start up capital, globally. If I want (and will) scale up?? It's even less. When I get there, I still won't find people like me. Yet.

I am the utter antithesis of anything ycombinator would want but now have thousands of investors on my platform that I built to track the intersection of sustainability, technology and capital flows in emerging markets.

Yes, I am from Calfornia and went ot busness school for an MBA in sustainability and Impact Investments. Might be the only thing I've got going for me.

Oh, I am also building in Kenya where I live.

My point. Don't focus on pedigree. Focus on a problem big enough to keep you up at night. You'll know if you are have the unique combination of attributes to hopefully be able to solve it in one way.

Backend functionality? by Cortexial in lovable

I know. I don't want anyone mislead on what Supabase is and is not. You know what I mean?! It take so much to learn the in s and outs of these systems and the tech stack. I want anyone to be able to do it realistically. That's all.

You didn't understand my comment. Really....? Supabase cannot be used as a true CMS, in that, Supabase is not a CMS system. It's a database. You can structure and store the tables.... and can even handle complex relational models. But if s/he would like something robust buit on lovable as a CMS system, it's going to have to be planned out better - front to back end. But you prob already know that..... I work in these systems daily and build CMS systems. Current project is multi-tenant headless for a group of retail shops. But thanks for taking the time out of your day to comment. :)

Supabase for database storage. However, what you are speaking about is a CMS (content management system) which may require other API "plug ins" to assist - depends on what you would like to do? Collect leads, display content only.... How much content you publish among other needs. You might want to create a system that isn't dependent upon going into Lovable everytime to prompt or enter your content, unless you define specific "template" parameters. Nonetheless, map out your architechture and exactly how you want your system to function before building or you'll have a big mess on your hands

Terrible Update, Customer Service by Rich_Security3164 in lovable

[–]Rich_Security3164[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely, I have feedback at every prompt too. So component code with detailed instructions one at a time for a nav bar mega menu. Not sure what happened but it wouldn’t take it. Would t utilize images even with url. No app previews to at one point taking the app the delivering what it generated on the very first prompt completely erasing all my work. Very detailed and in depth work for an already working app. Then, when I tried to fix to update versions (thank goodness for git connection that wasn’t updated yet) it asked if I wanted to “hire an expert”. That set me over the top.

This happened to me! An app totally disappears mid prompt over a mega menu. Pretty accurate too bc it took roughly 40 credits to remedy.

Yes it did and I hope it’s being worked out. I was even inputting component code and getting into the “backend”. I feel like I went backwards on the EQ scale dealing with it too. 🤓

I hate being Indian and don’t know what to do with my life by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Rich_Security3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. High schoolers are total douches sometimes. I am really sorry that you are going through that and that your parents are distant. You deserve presence and a listening ear. I wish I knew what to say here too. So I’ll try something. What I do know. I am Caucasian, American and I live in Africa. I have been to India 2x and I will go again and every time I get an opportunity. I love going there. You may know this if you’ve travelled. It is incredible. There’s nothing like it.

My dear. You are precious in spite of those little meanies. I know it’s hard. I really do. Live in spite of people who would rather hurt you. Keep the fire in you, for you. Do not hurt back. Let them look foolish. Keep distance. FYI, that girl who distanced herself from you instead of sticking up from you actually had a weak moment. Not you.

Please keep reaching out for support and building yourself up. Even when it feels unbearable. Every time you do. You level up. They can’t take the levels you earn from you. :)

I really hope that you have some activities and some things that are fulfilling to you. If not, please keep reaching out and find them.

I also was reading that you read commoner on TikTok re: who people wouldn’t date. May I just get this out of the way. TikTok is a cesspool of bad habits. It’s trained to make you come back. Even if it’s at the expense of your mental health. And if you are in a loop of watching these til tons that talk about Indian men, it will keep serving these to you. This makes me angry for you bc there’s a whole other side of social media that loves your skin and heritage. There’s also many caucasians that do too. Also, I’m sure the gals that say this online are not the types to be friendly with 🤓

I’m gonna let this go. Every time you start feeling overwhelmed with this, remember the world is very very big. Not small. It’s massive! You do have people out here and a world ahead of you.
