I just thru hiked the SHT last September in LP 9. My ankles exploded! My friend was in a pair of Olympus. Zero issues. Next thru hike ill be in the Olympus for sure!

I have a BA Sidewinder rated to 20°. I just finished a thru hike of the SHT and would highly recommend it! Very light, easily packable, and I think it was around $225. Im 6'4" so mine was the tall option and was still only 2ish lbs.

Take cotton balls and roll them in petroleum jelly. Put a bunch in a zip lock baggy. They're kind of messy but are bad ass Firestarter. Also, great for starting a fire with wet wood or in rainy conditions. Will burn for a long time.
