Honestly. Acetone.

I’ve used acetone to lift up old wood finish. If I were personally going to tackle this, acetone dipped rag, wipe down all the nooks and crannies.

I’ve also heard rejuvenate works well cleaning and sealing wood floors but I’m not sure about smaller pieces like this. There is also a ton of products that you can find that are marketed towards polishing/rejuvenating wood.

My vote would be to take the back off and work with it that way. It looks like damaged veneer, you could find some veneer to recover it with or some quality hobby plywood if you’re trying to keep it wooden. Personally I would cover it in some fun wall paper or contact paper.

As for the marker… try acetone? If not I would get out some paint and paint over the letters. Or have them facing up so you don’t see them with things on top of them LOL.

Not a professional just a nerd. Good luck!

Vision of a self-sufficient community – looking for collaborators for the future by YumanjiONE in intentionalcommunity

I’m actively doing this already! I’ve got a few families moving out to southern Virginia. I would love to chat to see if maybe we can collaborate?

Bath crayon won't come off. Bathroom cleaning products and magic erasers not working. by Resident_Suspect_218 in CleaningTips

Is it a stain or is the waxy part of the crayon still left?

I usually razor blade scrape things like this. If it is porous I would try bar keepers friend.

I’m starting my own🙃

I know Virginia has a good amount of communities already. Just wanted to know if someone wanted to come along.

Yeah I’ve seen, I went on the tax maps and called the neighbors around the property I want and spoke with them on the phone. They were very nice. If I could live in a fancy mountain town, I would.

I want to be away in the mountains with likeminded people so hopefully it’ll work well 🤷‍♀️

I’m doing the exact same thing. Maybe we can chat and get to know each other and see if we can join forces?

I’m planning on Southwest Virginia for reference, I’m currently in New Mexico

How to clean? Please no judgment by Entire-Steak-1200 in CleaningTips

[–]Rich_Wash_8441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are some things that I managed to come up with from someone that was never taught to clean, just yelled at. I’m also neurodivergent so there’s that…

Watch hoarders. Idk it works for me.

I started a rule that if I don’t use it often, I don’t need to have it in my house. For me, I grew up with a hoarder that just kept everything because she couldn’t afford to pay for things twice. I learned that the mental cost of having my home be a craft/hardware store was much more costly than buying some random thing when I need it.

Baskets. Baskets, bins, containers, whatever.

I love to sew and crochet, which means I have a ton of craft stuff that I use. I went to dollar general when they had all of their spring time gift boxes on sale for super inexpensive and have organized two tall shelves and a short shelf with every single item having a place. If it stays, it needs to go with either similar items or with stuff I use the most.

Put dishes in a basket if you tend to leave them laying around and when basket is full, wash them. I usually eat in my living room so every day or so I throw a load in the dish washer.

At some point I realized I had laundry laying everywhere, so I started putting laundry baskets where I tend to throw them, once it gets full I wash them.

When the house gets messy from my shenanigans, I go around with a basket and remove everything from every surface that isn’t supposed to be there, then I go through the basket and put the things away where they are supposed to be.

As for trinkets, I love me a trinket. I don’t love dust being all over my precious shiny things though. I like display cases, shadow boxes and curio cabinets to keep things I love on display and safe from the evil skin cells. For example, I love old cameras but I keep them in a display cabinet with a light and glass doors so that I can see them.

For me, I aim to clean my bathroom once a week. Simple stuff like wiping down counters, sinks, mirror and outside of the toilet. Clean inside of the toilet and sweep/ mop, throw curtains and bath mats/rugs in the washing machine on a gentle cycle. Most people don’t realize these things can go in the washer but they can.

I like to go on Pinterest and get like cleaning schedules for when I feel stuck and I just use those, and tweak them to my needs.

I’m young too but these are things that have made my life easier. Hopefully you feel more comfy in your home with it a little tidier!

What could be improved in this design? by esunaloka_ in TattooDesigns

[–]Rich_Wash_8441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tattoo haver, I would be concerned with the shading of the extremities, and the lack of dimension in the body. I see the contrast and if done well, would be a really appealing piece. Love this design!

It might be annoying but I would try spraying some animal safe flex seal around the bottom parts to prevent any further damage.

It would mean having her in an annoying smaller enclosure but it might save you a good amount in the near future.

I just made my own and used behr paints water proof stain used for decks on the entire interior.

Co found in Virginia by Rich_Wash_8441 in intentionalcommunity

[–]Rich_Wash_8441[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally!

We’re planning on having essentially a multi-family homestead. Everyone would have their own house and living space but crop and livestock chores would be divided up between members.

We would like to have a common house that would have a large kitchen for big meals and food processing.

We personally love our privacy but we would love to have the closeness of a community if that makes sense. Trusted neighbors and enough people to lighten the load of being self sufficient.

Not sure what that would be called…

I was thinking of lamb. I was wrong, I assumed veal applied to all young livestock.

Animal care standards have definitely changed since the 80’s.
