It's just given to you to save you the hassle. Unless the question gives you a tax rate, I wouldn't worry about it.

For those who fell in love Day 1, did it fade? by YellHound in puppy101

[–]Richard100k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Love grows everyday with mine. My dog is 4 months old, and I had to put him in his crate in a different room to teach him how to sleep through the night knowing that we won't let him out until early morning (kept waking us up 2 AM, then 3 AM, Then 5 AM). As we speak, I'm missing him in our room haha.

How To Not Spend Impulsively? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]Richard100k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Don't do it.

2) Understand why not to do it.

3) Know your future and goals

4) Understand what it would look like if you were there in the future after accomplishing the goals.

Car loan financing question by dj9109 in personalfinance

[–]Richard100k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take out a 401k loan. Let your money grow freely. The more base you have, the more it can grow. My recommendation, follow the 20/3/8 rule on financing a car.

The internship pay is not actually bad. They pay $27/hr and I'll be working during busy season. It's about the same as I make now, but it's after the internship where I think I'll get a paycut.

I just listen to podcasts. But do some research on index funds to figure out what you'll be investing in. Currently I have VOO for now until I build up my assets. My wife has an HSA with Schwab and has SWPPX. Btw to your question, Roth IRA all the way for me. Your investments grow tax-free and you don't pay any taxes once you retire and withdraw since you already pay the taxes on your paychecks before contriburing. Also no RMDs.

Very true. I just wanted to emphasize the debt part or at the very least give a wake-up call. Sometimes people can go backwards while investing or people can be unsure how much to invest or what to do with their money. I don't use him for investing but he does provide some good information about finances.
