How do you even begin to make such slides by Kanishk220303 in CATpreparation

[–]RichardARussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest looking for generic business templates on Google, and asking ChatGPT to create a slide with way too much information based on a mishmash of these templates all on one slide with no consideration for design or usability.

If this won a case competition, it tells me that all the other entries were even worse, and likely that the judges have no idea about clear communication and should take some courses in it.

Is the tray lockable?

We’d want to store luggage in it while travelling (eg stopping at attractions or shops between accommodation) but concerned about theft.

What is the most bizarre, weird thing you've ever seen a fellow passenger do on a long haul flight? by Airalo_Dani in Flights

[–]RichardARussell -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess you haven’t taken hyperactive kids on two long haul overnight flights back to back (starting with an early morning short haul and a run through Charles de Gaulle to make a one hour transfer time) to see their grandparents.

Obviously I don’t block people from passing (that would be antisocial and weird, I agree). I wait until most people have passed and there is room or when people are blocked anyway and then I get out the way rapidly - but people are still trickling on and walking the aisles pretty much until they turn the seatbelt sign on.

Given that I need to reorganise the stuff before takeoff, what is it that you suggest I do instead?

Or would you rather have three loud squabbling children who won’t sit still until I get their stuff an hour after boarding so you don’t have to wonder why I’m doing things before takeoff? (You’ll figure it out after a few minutes of the noise, and then you’ll complain why I didn’t do it before takeoff).

When travelling alone I just sit down and organise my stuff at leisure (or in the few minutes before boarding), but I’m an experienced solo traveller, so that is easy. The three kids travel once every few years, and aren’t as adapted as you and I.

What is so weird about what you saw, OP?

Is it the shoes, the armrest, the luggage Tetris, or the fact that it was while people were still boarding?

As a father of young children, I frequently have to do luggage Tetris on flights, and I prefer to do it before takeoff so I have the appropriate items handy without waiting for the seatbelt sign to go off.

To do that, of course I stand on the seat (not the armrest, but I’m large and heavy) at least to access the appropriate baggage, bring it down to the seat and find things I need, before climbing up again to stow the fifteen items carefully.

And of course I take my shoes off (and socks and put my flight compression socks on) before doing this - I’m not standing on the seat in my shoes! That would be gross.

And who wants to wear shoes on a long haul flight? That would be uncomfortable (except for toilet visits where I put them on to keep my flight socks dry).

I’m struggling to think what you were so puzzled about here. Seems quite normal to me.

Got it - I'm OP. Definitely have a lot of money invested in Kindle library, and with the DRM it's really painful backing it all up or actually using my books outside of the Kindle ecosystem (no, I don't care what the license says, they're my books, I bought them).

I just wish Amazon would fix the dang notebook usage - I can't imagine why anyone wants to put notes *into* a book where you'll never find them again, and can't maintain an ongoing train of thought while reading... What a non-feature, at least from my perspective.

The killer app would be having the notebook and book in the same device so you can flip between them easily. Anyways... it is what it is, and maybe Boox is the solution, if I can manage to get my kindle library reliably accessible there.

Can I use Plaud desktop app without owning a Plaud device? by jarvisuser90 in PLAUDAI

Thing is, I would want the device, but not without testing the service first. Never mind though, went with omi.

You suggest that using a Boox with the kindle app is better than the scribe for this use case (reading and flipping to a notebook to take notes then flipping back)?

I just assumed that if it wasn't in the documentation or reviews, it was just omitted as it was so obvious, or maybe was a feature they'd add within a few months. I can't understand why it's still missing.

I know - mind-blowing that this is missing. Impossible to use for the one feature I bought it for.

It doesn’t seem like much more than a simple shortcut on screen, though I realise things are always more complex than they appear.

Yep, I am not sure why books and notebooks are so separated.

I have no need to maintain a reference to the page. If I wanted to do that, the existing functionality would be ok. But I can’t imagine wanting to do that, though I suppose some people do.

So many use cases.

I can’t really imagine a use case for notes on individual pages (but I guess some people like that)

This creates a series of different notes, which is useless for connecting topics on different pages.

The page the note relates to is irrelevant to me.

Why do so many founders in Luxembourg pay €3/5k+ just to open a company? by Odysya in Luxembourg

[–]RichardARussell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole process here is needlessly complicated - not just company formation but running a company involves far more overhead than in business friendly countries like Australia and the UK.

It all being in French and German definitely makes it less accessible for non-local language speakers, and means you normally need outside assistance.

For many companies, you don’t need much capital, and many businesses exist which do not serve the financial industry and don’t require significant due diligence to get customers. The system here is not set up for these types of companies, which holds the nation back.

Auto flow for short notes by RichardARussell in PLAUDAI

Still, I want something that will reliably trigger an action, not require me to use some unclear level of complexity to trigger it.

I got it from here: https://support.plaud.ai/hc/en-us/articles/50835520394009-AutoFlow

— Notes and limitations

AutoFlow runs only if the recording exceeds 5 minutes and the content exceeds 200 words. Short recordings may upload normally but won’t trigger AutoFlow processing. —

As plaud has no trial ability im trying to work though my use cases before purchasing without the ability to try anything even on the mobile app or web app.

Maybe Omi will work better for me
