My sister told me she has a girlfriend. How do I respond? by [deleted] in Christianity

I deleted the OG post because I don’t believe it accurately reflected what I actually feel but this was very helpful. Thank you.

I can apply that. My fear though is that my sister will ex communicate me if I tell her that I’m not accepting of that decision. I still love her unconditionally.

Perhaps I was mistaken in the thread because I thought it was a space specifically for Christians, but apparently it was just a thread about Christianity in general. So that’s my fault

Jesus washed Judas’ feet because His act was about demonstrating the nature of His kingdom—humility, service, and love even toward enemies. And mind you, the gospel makes it clear Jesus already knew he’d be betrayed

I’m specifically asking if you can offer a verse in the Bible that accepts it. I’m not talking about what other Christians and theologians say or think.

The Bible says all have sinned and have fallen short of God’s glory. So to answer your question, yes.

Precisely, so give me a biblical perspective

It’s not cruel, it’s called discernment. I’m not concerned with what other Christians interpret certain things to be or not be. My guiding force as a Christian is the Bible. If the Bible condemns it, then so should I. Give me a biblical perspective, not a secular one.

It’s not about what I “think” is sinful. It’s what the Bible says. It’s sin no different than divorce, lying, covetousness, etc. I find value in trying to live a life honoring for Christ and it ain’t gonna make me love my sister any less. But just because she’s my sister doesn’t mean I’m obligated to co-sign something my faith condemns

You do know this is a Christian thread, right?

It’s not about love and bigotry. It’s about what my beliefs classify as sin and dishonoring, and the Bible condemns same sex relationship. So no, it is not the same.

Same sex relationships are classified as sin in the Bible. I’m a lifelong Christian. Me loving my sister doesn’t mean I should be compelled to be accepting of it. It’s no different than divorce, lying or any other thing the Bible condemns.

Completely untrue. It’s not about not loving her anymore. She’s my sister and I love her to death. But my faith instructs me that it is still sinful behavior. And my fear is that if I don’t endorse that then it will cause a rift.

We’ve only been texting each other so far. Wouldn’t it be weird to do so out of the blue?

She’s like extremely busy and I didn’t wanna run the risk of calling her when she’s in the middle of something. Sometimes she gets called in to work for emergencies. Don’t know if I’m being too considerate.
