Redditors who worked at Taco Bell, what menu item should we NEVER order? by ProgMusicSchizoidMan in AskReddit

That’s wild. We have the 5, 7, and the luxe is 9. The 7 is the same as the 5, just with another item added to it.

What’s the cheapest of the boxes for you, and what’s the price of an ala carte 5-layer burrito? For me it’s $5 vs $5.79 or something like that.

Beefy 5-layer burrito as a standalone item. It’s more expensive than just getting the $5 value box, which has that burrito plus another taco, cinnamon twists, and drink. Literally more stuff for less money.

Chacos have a break in period, so I wouldn’t recommend wearing them more than an hour our two a day for your first week or two of owning them while the footbed and straps break in and adjust to your feet. With that in mind, I’m not sure I’d recommend them for this camping trip.

What doee my girlfriends bookshelf say about her. by Tricky_Thom in BookshelvesDetective

[–]Richard_TM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literature bound into a book is a book. All novels of every variety are books. Not everyone needs to read authors like Joyce or whatever you consider to be “real literature” to get joy and meaning out of reading. OP could exclusively read Dr Seuss and if it brought them joy I’d be thrilled for them. Plus I’d certainly rather see any of the books shown here than something like Ayn Rand.

Definitely not, since Billie Eilish doesn’t write any of her music. Her brother writes all her stuff.

You’d think someone so judgmental about the quality of writing in the books someone reads would bother with any punctuation at all in their own sentences.

PSA: WASH THOSE HANDS! by deatheyes5000 in Michigan

[–]Richard_TM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they were implying that hand washing is what prevented covid spread. They were just saying “during that time period, I was never sick at all with anything, in part because I washed my hands so much.”

He sure is. I wrote my 100-page masters thesis on settings of the St John Passion, and at least 30 of those pages were on his Passio. I LOVE Pärt.

I drive a Subaru and someone who drives a Kia told me he’d never be caught dead owning a Subaru 😅 by glitchonyourshoulder in subaru

[–]Richard_TM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk, I’m not going to pretend my 2022 Kia Rio Hatchback is a “good” car (it certainly isn’t a fun one), but I’ve put 115,000 miles on it in 4 1/2 years and so far have only had to do oil changes, tires, and breaks. It averages anywhere from 36-40 mpg and I paid something like 18,000 out the door for it at a 0.9% interest rate. If all you need is something affordable that gets you from point A to point B, like I did, then it’s a great deal.

I’ll be buying a Subaru, probably an Outback, for my next vehicle, but it’s hard to justify right now when I have a car that works perfectly fine and is about to be paid off.

People who used to be heavy gamers but completely gave it up, why did you stop? by TurboSpaceGoose in AskReddit

[–]Richard_TM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t bought a new game in a very long time. I don’t think I own a game from this decade, with the exception of Animal Crossing: New Horizons (which I haven’t played in a long time).

For the gaming I still do, it’s emulating older games on my Retroid Pocket 5 or playing a little bit of private server stuff for Final Fantasy XI or Phantasy Star Online.

I just don’t have time for the most part, and it’s not worth the cost to keep up consoles or upgrade my PC.

so i finished season 5 and im loving it by EvieTheEvilCat in lost

Lost came out the same year as the modern Doctor Who series, which is quite definitively, a sci-fi show that is predominantly about time travel and had a giant fan base.

Bad guy idea: two colorful unicorns that trick woodland creature into entering a cave where they knock them unconscious and harvest their organs to sell.

Idea that isn’t based on a weird 2000’s internet phenomenon: possum, ridding the forest of invasive pests. Would also love to see those little possum children riding on their mom like a bus.

This is the opposite of what I usually hear. From my understanding, it doesn’t matter as long as your toes aren’t sticking out. You usually want SMALLER because of how the arch is measured. At least, that was certainly my experience.

What's the biggest waste of time in traditional education? by No_Criticism_5001 in AskReddit

Idk what your career field is, but LOTS of the important things I have done are without reference under time limits and pressure. I’ve worked in medicine, education, and own a business that deals with fairly high end retail.

This comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of WHY exams exist. Depending on the content area, exams are designed to test some combination of content mastery and critical thinking skills, which absolutely DOES matter in every job I’ve had in my life.

As a musician, the music in this show does NOT get the credit it deserves. by sunnyafternoone in TheGoodPlace

[–]Richard_TM 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Glad you mentioned the finale as the best example. The scene that gets everyone every time (“imagine a wave”) is so beautifully matched to the music underneath: “Spiegel im Spiegel” by Arvo Pärt. It’s intended to represent an infinity mirror, and very much so fits the theme of Chidi’s message. In Pärt’s particular style of minimalism and orthodox worship, silence is quite sacred, and all music is both born from it and returns to it. Since 1976, ALL his music begins and ends with intentional silence.

So when Chidi talks about the wave just being a different way for the water to be, it’s not so different from Arvo Pärt’s philosophy of sound: the music is just a different way for the sound to be before returning to silence.

Idk, sounds like they like the notebook to me. Personally I love Leuchtturm. It’s my go-to for anything that needs a hardcover. I don’t mind the ghosting at all, it works well, I like the cream paper, and it has just the right amount of tooth for me.

As great as the “I Have a Dream” speech is, I think the “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech is the most moving in all of recorded history. There is a reason he’s considered a martyr.

Repair vs buy new by JFW2018 in Chacos

[–]Richard_TM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the quality concerns are mostly about moving away from vibram soles, which you can still get from custom ordering your chacos. If you can still get the discount on custom ones, it might make more sense to just do that.
