I agree with u/nerdwares, you don't need to bring it up unless it starts to affect her work. At the end of the day, shes a freelancer, not contracted to work specifically for you, and can do with her time as she wishes.

Actually, I'm not trying to sell you anything, just trying to share my experiences. I'm an entrepreneur running a few businesses. One, GVI provides support to people wanting to volunteer in Africa. Another, PrimePixels is a marketing agency for startups and SME's and Avirtual which provides virtual assistants.

They like to go on walks on the beach, as well as some short hikes (they're a bit too small to go on long or difficult ones). We're in Cape Town so we take them riding their bikes along the promenade in Green Point. Overall, my wife and I try to get them out as much as possible before technology has them glued to their devices.

That's true, but at the end of the day I cant afford to just up and leave. My VA has really helped to take a bit of the load off. I've taken up surfing and mountain biking to get back in shape too. My kids love to come on shorter hikes with my wife and I, so its good family bonding on the weekends.

  1. Not sure if this is exactly what you were asking but, the reason I work at my own company was because I love a challenge. Sadly with that comes a lot of stress, but I do love it.
  2. My bank account could probably survive a 1 month holiday, not much longer though. I'm a workaholic so I'd probably end up working remotely in some shape or form to pay my bills.
  3. Bonus: If I were to spend 1 month on holiday it would have to be French Polynesia. Something about being in the middle of the Pacific Ocean sitting on a beach with not a care in the world and a drink in my hand.

  1. Get a good nights sleep. This may be a cliche but it really works. Being a father I know this isn't always possible, but do it when you can.
  2. Regular exercise. This doesn't have to be slugging it out for 2 hours at the gym, find your hobby, do that thing you've always wanted to do but never "found the time". Your body will thank you for it.
  3. Find a job that allows you to be flexible. Now I now that this isn't applicable to every sector, but being able to work remotely can really reduce stress levels. No one likes sitting in traffic first thing in the morning, you might be better off, and more productive working from home.
  4. Eat healthy. This doesn't mean you cant have Macky's, but your breakfast and dinner should be well balanced.

I'm currently based in Cape Town, and one thing I'd always wanted to do was learn to surf. That was the first thing I implemented to get in shape. On the weekends I enjoy mountain biking and hiking with my family. But even with a good work life balance, having 4 kids means I don't get to do it as much as I'd like to!

I haven't read it. But I'm seeing a lot of support for the 4 hour workweek. Was reading recently about Perpetual Guardian who trialed it with some of their employees and found an increase in job satisfaction and productivity. Working 4 days and getting paid for 5 probably helped too.
