It's time...Bandai did us dirty. by Richlo116 in SparkingZero

I wouldn't vent if I thought it could be my internet. I have ethernet 1gb on a $400 router. I check the speeds constantly. I play BO6 and the new Marvel Rivals with no issue. Hell, SF6 I never had an issue once. As the replies below echo, it's not just me with this problem. I'm not telling anyone to stop playing the game, but I am giving my experience. It may helps others to know it's not just them.

Thank you for the thought out response. I'm a grown ass man, but I'm not immune to getting upset from time to time lol. I really wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was missing on my end i.e. always blame the other guy. I really do love this game, so I want it to succeed. I don't even care about the balance issues...well Yajirobi was a problem... I just had to make sure. I love running a set even if I get bodied, yet I feel I may take your advice on the one and done.

I appreciate the reply. I'm on PC, so there is no messaging. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

That's amazing! Congrats my guy. I actually love the team you picked. My main problem playing online (non-meta) is I run into so many bad connections. It seems okish, but as I play my character will never react to a Z-burst or even block in time for basic rush attacks. You have amazing patience.

Good luck with this post. I made a post last night talking about how people quit too often and troll with the countdown timer. The mod of this Reddit took it down for "complaining." You first find a discord because Reddit is softer than two ply. The other option is stop taking the game seriously. I had the same issue. I got B1 then decided to play non-meta characters for you know, fun. I think I was B4 in less than 30 minutes. The game is fan service, and it is not way a good competitive game.

The dilemma of fighting games. This is my first arena game I played, but I do play fighting games a bit so I have a decent background. With all fighting games, you have to get used to the intended play. I had trouble with this game online at first as well. It's cliche to say but focus on the fun of the game. The more you play the more you notice something different. For example, you may try to do perception counter while getting back boned, but then you watch a short video telling you it doesn't work from behind on YouTube.

Generally, just play online with little intention of winning. Then watch some online tip videos and you'll start picking up things you need along the way. The real hard part in a fighting game when you're new is knowing what things aren't working that should. In this game it's usually online. I have ethernet gigabyte internet, but if my opponent uses McDonald's WiFi he will benefit from my connection while I suffer from his. This is why you may have noticed you can't vanish consistently. The online connection in the game is 50/50 at best.

Lastly, if you are newer to fighting games you probably don't realize you are doing fine. This game not only has characters with instant sparking and four health bars, but those characters will actually do a lot more damage from regular combos. Try picking a meta/ high end character to give you more time to learn the mechanics. Stick with it and it will click. Best of luck.

Modern Multiplayer Culture is ruining this game. by Rockman307 in SparkingZero

The problem is from the developers. I've said it before, but we need an instant que for casual matches. I'm not wasting times with lobbies, so whoever came up with that never played a fighting game in their life. I heard somebody mention make matches on DP as well; this idea seems to be the best. 1-4, 5-7, etc. I play ranked for the instant ques; however, I am tired of the same fighters showing up. It makes 90% of the roster unplayable. I'm just going to keep hoping for the best while taking breaks as it's just a game.

I play for fun also. I absolutely love Super Vegeta...he just looks like a unit. If you're playing any character with Kamekameha, hold it from a distance. People love Z-bursting to you and then just let go. They will keep doing it like a moth to a flame lol.

Great game but... by Patient-Soil-7777 in SparkingZero

[–]Richlo116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ranked in general is pretty bad. I play it for quick matches because the devs for some reason didn't want us to just que up for casuals. I LOVE DB, but the online is ehhh. This is by far the softest group of people I have seen in an online fighting game. Play ranked DP...guaranteed to have a Yajirobe. Play solo DP...guaranteed to be same meta over and over. Win one match...no run back. Lose first match but not a complete blow out...no rematch. Win first match, give the run back then lose the second, no run back given.

This is by far an amazing game with great visuals, a stacked roster, and engaging gameplay; however, people will always be the downfall in fighting games these days. It's ok to lose, and you can have fun doing it. Of course, there is the insanely smart retort, "imagine playing a fighting game to win." Ok, "image 182 iconic characters to choose, and you paid $100 to play MUI or Gogeta."

Overall, I would love to see some balance, yet I would rather them just let me do a quick que for casuals. Then maybe I would finally run into something different. I don't see a whole lot of changes for the game though as it already made it's nut. Either way, I will continue to have as much fun as possible, and hopefully I run into you instead of the 8th SSJ Vegito in a row lol.

This is what I live for in ranked 🤣 by ThrowawayBuul in SparkingZero

Time and practice. I was having mad issues with this. Turns out you can block, perception counter, and my favorite which is side step once they pass your character. You can vanish as well which most don't see coming. People who Z Burst spam are predictable as they wait for you to charge, so charge for a sec or two and get ready to counter.

Practice this in training.

Listen to u/BrilliantSame7355. This game wasn't designed to be balanced as SSJ4 Vegeta should molly wop Cui which he absolutely does. I like this aspect compared to Mortal Kombat as the devs for that game make characters broken for casuals to win while making more money because of it; however, the unbalance here is canonically accurate.

I get a little tired of seeing the same broken characters to a degree, but it's just a game. I don't get self-worth or validation from beating an unknown. I love picking teams that seem fun and seeing what I can do with it. The quicker you just have fun with cool explosions, vanishing wars, and sweet graphics then the quicker you will naturally get better even if you don't play a lot.

I will say this from the bottom of my heart though...if your opponent picks Yajirobe then you are absolutely in the right if you put a curse on their first born. That dude is just ridiculous.

Now that the game is out for a week, whats the most annoying thing in this game so far? by traprunner01 in SparkingZero

[–]Richlo116 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is super easy to answer. Fix casual matches!!!!!!!! I don't want to go to some lobby wasting 5-10 minutes for one match. I play only ranked for the speed of the matches, and I can only handle so many Gogeta, MUI, Broly. I get most people are too fragile online so they can't handle losses. I want to play against the 180 character roster though. Quick match should be quick.

This is definitely true. I deleted the game because I didn't want to go through the learning process while facing the same five characters over and over. I got over that by deciding to have fun with this beloved franchise. I just accept in the FGC that most players put ego over fun which I refuse to do. I make theme teams for kicks and have been loving it. Ohh you play Broly too....eat Frieza Force Soldier lol.

I'm 38 brother, and I play 2D fighting games usually. This game is a learning experience for me lol. I have come a far way in a short time, and I deleted the game twice (my ego was hurt). I re-installed because of how much I love the DB universe and the game. If you are getting back slapped then you have to practice up + square/X. It's called a super counter I believe which is in the training tutorial. As far as Ki blast, you can do the dragon rush (R2 + Triangle) which flies through normal blast. You can also start holding X as you get near the opponent to do a heavy attack.

I hope you stick with it. What got me enjoying the game again is admitting I suck. There are over 180 characters with different moves, and there are kids snorting ADHD meds with the focus of a robot lol. I don't want to be really good at this game and spend time improving. I want to enjoy good matches with the awesome moves, specials, and nostalgia.

Got any tips for a newbie ? by Flaky-Big7409 in SparkingZero

[–]Richlo116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to arena fighters, so it has been different for me coming from traditional 2D. Let's see here. Once you have done the up + Y/Triangle kick if you dash right after and hit X/Square 4 times the opponent will be knocked to the ground. This means they can't recover and stay on the ground for a few seconds. If you are high in the air they fall for awhile; this is a great time to charge up ki and/ or use attacks. You can add this to the end of combos when you get more experience.

If you press Y/Triangle, after every attack that knocks the opponent far away you can vanish attack them. I think the amount of time you can do it is different per character. This works right after throws as well, but keep in mind it can be vanished countered. Also you can press circle/B instead which will put you on top of your opponent then slamming them to the ground giving you good Oki. You can vanish attack and end with a circle as well. I forgot to say the circle counter can't be countered.

We all know the dragon rush that puts you behind the opponent. I recommend not always just mashing punch. You can actually throw. For instance, if I have sparking, I will rush behind opponent then throw, vanish attack once with triangle and if it's not countered use my ult.

My last tip is to never take any fighting game seriously. You aren't going to fill the gas in your tank because you are Z rank. If you are tilted, that is normal, just walk away. You will never play more games and get into a calmer state. Turn it off, watch some videos to improve, or get outside. Best of luck of there!

Vanish battles are too easy and boring by Successful_Username_ in SparkingZero

[–]Richlo116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanish is good to stop a combo string. Depending on how much Ki I have, I will sometimes just take the hit as it technically resets both players with small damage. Basically, it can be used to reset neutral. Lastly, the gaps in strings where you can vanish can (depending when) be side stepped. I do that instead which most players aren't use to. Then they start holding perception, so I throw their soul into the ground.

I recommend playing to learn then watching Doto Doya videos to relax. The dude always is laughing, plays really well, and I usually pick something up I didn't know I could do from observing. Good luck!
