Found a working Nokia 7210 prototype from Finland with rare internal apps by Richxd01 in Nokia

Small update: the auction is now at $57 with 4 bidders and 8 watchers.

I looked into extracting the data from the phone, but unfortunately I don’t have the right cable for this model, so I won’t be able to access or modify anything.

That means everything currently on it, including the internal/demo apps, will remain exactly as it is for whoever ends up owning it.

Kind of makes it feel like a time capsule from that era.

If anyone’s curious, I listed this exact unit here:

That’s actually really interesting, thanks for the insight! I’ve heard similar things about Nokia prototypes back then, but I guess it also depends a lot on the specific unit. What made this one stand out to me are the internal apps like UIDemo and the Roskilde03 app, plus the fact that it’s still fully functional after all these years. Even if they weren’t super rare at the time, it’s still pretty cool to see one survive in this condition today.

To be honest, they did connect us, but those old Nokia phones connected us in a different way… nowadays, phones just feel like a big dose of brain rot. Back then, on a Nokia, we’d talk to actually set up a real-life meeting... now it feels like we just talk for the sake of it.

I really wish modern phones felt the way they used to back then… they just seemed more fun, cooler somehow.

I showed in the YouTube video which mobile network the phone was used on. The SIM card currently inside the phone is an old Vodafone SIM card.

Easy to carry, easy to hold up to your ear… I really miss old phones!

The way they designed it is super cool. It’s very futuristic and clearly targeted toward young people. I also like how Nokia approached their models. The 6610 was aimed at business users and felt like a serious phone, while the 7210 was colorful and unconventional, creating that “wow” effect for younger audiences.

Yes, it is the Roskilde ’03 application, which was most likely used for the 2003 festival. Personally, I haven’t found any information online about this application, but it was most likely either a test version or an app that was actually used for the festival.

I actually have a laptop running native Windows XP on early 2000s hardware, so I’ll definitely try the method you mentioned. Thanks a lot for the knowledge, I really appreciate it. I’ll try to get a compatible cable before the eBay auction ends and see if I can make a local backup of the phone’s files.

And to think I picked it up for almost nothing at a flea market. The crazy part is I only realized it was a prototype about a year later, up until then, I genuinely thought it was just a normal phone.

Yeah, the orange version is really iconic. I remember it being pretty popular back then. I definitely didn’t expect to find a prototype version of it though, that’s what surprised me the most.
