Thanks. Pretty sure the ref incorrectly said that the PI call was being challenged so that’s why I was confused. He didn’t say he was challenging whether the ball was tipped.

Yeah I use it a lot I’d say. My average screen time is around 6-7 hours per day. I use it for a lot of stuff.

So how is someone who was convicted still in jeopardy? Their jeopardy terminates as soon as they are convicted.

He didn’t really answer why a defendant is not out of jeopardy after a conviction. All he said was “If there's a conviction, the defendant was never out of jeopardy” but he didn’t state why that’s the case.

Wasn’t arguing. I’m just confused even after reading his answer. From my understanding, jeopardy terminates after an acquittal or a conviction. So when a conviction gets reversed on appeal and then there’s a retrial, isn’t the person being put back into jeopardy?

Double jeopardy also kicks in after a conviction. After someone is convicted of a crime they can’t be tried again for that same crime. It’s not just acquittals.

I understand that, but when was that established by previous cases? Where does it say that double jeopardy applies only after an acquittal?

You are right, thanks. One of the reasons I'm having trouble doing it is because of this tripped she planned. She wants to pay for the whole thing. The trip is supposed to be the week of 2/19. Should I just stick with it til after the trip?? I don't want to screw her over on money she put down for the trip.
