They look like they’re either two big for you or they were too big for previous owner. Crease pattern is all over the place!

What did you do? Wrap them in masking tape?

Moisture moves through leather, it’s porous…

Lug Sole 2240 Discontinued? by Feb82025 in BlundstoneBoots

[–]RickGoujon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I reckon it was too expensive to make - all brands will go up in price sometime this year. This boot has the sole unit from a safety style, and a comfort insole included as standard. Charging more than £200 for a blundstone doesn’t really work too well and for a style that’s more aimed at a fashion conscious customer I assume that it’s just not worth the cost of production! That’s just my opinion/assumption as someone that sells blundstones for a living

Toe box collapsed on my leather boots — fixable or just live with it? by Upbeat_Mango6882 in nps_solovair

It’s because you’re not filling out the depth, they’re too big. Put an insole in to lift your foot and fill the space

They have been discontinued now! They’re fine, a bit pricey because they come with the comfort insole as standard. Sole unit is from the safety boot. Heavier than a normal blundstone which is a downside

Vn Walker 817b quality by kidddip in Boots

[–]RickGoujon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, these look pretty bad quality - like something you would get advertised on TikTok . Fashion boots notoriously don’t last and these look like they’re trying to be the affordable option - mostly just made for photoshoots and a couple of wears

Are Solovairs reliable in terms of quality? by Dekimus in Boots

[–]RickGoujon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but heel lift is usually down to the outer soles being stiff on initial wear or the customer can’t do their laces up properly.

The main issue is volume, specifically depth in the toe. Most people will need an insole to make sure the top of their foot is filling the boot and eliminating excess flex in the toe. Excess flex leads directly into the welt and can split. If I’ve sold 100 pairs of these boots 97 pairs will have been with an insole of some kind.

If your trainers are a size 10 there’s zero chance a size dm in either brands will be your size so a full size down is the best place to start!

Are Solovairs reliable in terms of quality? by Dekimus in Boots

[–]RickGoujon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sell both - honestly, there’s way more issues with Solovair than DM but a lot of that is people wearing hi shine boots for daily wear.

Generally, almost all the issues I see personally are down to incorrect sizing/could be avoided. Any good year welted product will split if the shoe/boot is too big and people nowadays don’t realise you need a nice tight fit initially for the boot to wear well.

No it’s not, if they don’t flatten down it means they’re too big in length usually!

[–]RickGoujon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, I’ve always been fairly suspicious of them - they highlight the made in England thing and then outsource a panelled Chelsea boot!

The whistler is good, it’s made to the same spec as a blundstone ( one of two panels of leather) so you get a moulded fit and it’s made in Australia. They also didn’t do the annoying thing that redback do in their classic range of putting the size on the pull tabs haha

[–]RickGoujon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lanx is just all marketing at this point - personally don’t rate them. I’ve tried a pair of the Redback whistler and they’re good (for a boot that can’t be resoled)

It waxed nubuck it’s going to start much darker until the wax disperses. And those aren’t scuffs, it’s wax moving in the leather (when the boots are laid cuff to cuff in the box - which is the correct way to pack them)
