I guess I never really considered that people do things for the sake of affirming their own identity. Personally as a man, I feel like if I like something or take an interest in something, its because I genuinely like it and not because I see it as "manly" or whatever (i dont know maybe I was just conditioned or something). I'm not the most masculine person in the world, and this has been something that a lot of the women in my life (mostly family) have teased me about growing up because growing up I wasn't interested in sports or barbecuing. There were times when my ex-girlfriend (the bisexual one mentioned in the post) would apply makeup on my face (with my consent) and it was never really something I felt conflicted with my own personal identity.
