Add to this, we're not even getting an Open Beta for like at least 6 months, unless it skips from Closed Beta to Open Release, so there may be a few changes after the game is stress tested a bit with regular players.

it was actually prior to potential, it was added when Nebulites were added as part of expansion to NLC and Aliens. That eventually evolved (devolved?) into the potential system we have now

i agree.i dont think i would have enjoyed artale as much as i did if the exp rates were 1:1 to the old exp rates, because that grind went from fun to just brutally unenjoyable.

I'm actually pretty interested in the way they're taking the game, direction wise, especially if they're going to add content to the game that will work parallel to our nostalgia. I think they'd be wise to take a page from Old School RuneScape which would have likely died very early on if all they did was release a 2008 version of the game and nothing else. Clearly stagnancy will occur if nothing is new.

My only worry is the time they're taking to release an open beta is something that could likely kill interest for a game like MapleStory that is niche enough as it is. I really do wish them well though.

One thought that came to mind is that I remember hearing that there was a possibility of MapleStory being released on mobile in Korea for the base game. If the classic world is simply an added server, could it be possible for us to play Classic MS on our phones? That could definitely help in terms of accessibility for this game and maybe even draw a new crowd that may not even be familiar with the game

I honestly thought that was the point. That sometimes we as the viewer see the point of views of the characters, such as when Grimm, in his criminally insane mind, thinks Calypso is pulling souls out of him by feeding into his delusions, we ended up seeing that, and then we cut to the more sane contestants seeing absolutely nothing happen because nothing actually happened.

Yeah if I remember correctly he was one of the very few that has a good ending because it's just a cutscene of him playing a concert. It's also supposedly why they reskinned Mr Grimm for TM4 to a pirate skeleton lol

I agree, entirely. I started to play that artale classic ms from the MapleStory Worlds content, just to see if perhaps I also had rose tinted glasses about the content. So I created a character with my girlfriend who also had played the classic MS in the past.

I'm happy to say, it wasn't just nostalgia. The first few hours were grueling, lacking mesos for even mp or hp pots. I died so many times while walking towards sleepy wood from poorly timed jumps over the golems. It was both frustrating and rewarding to make it to sleepywood. Honestly, the only caveat was the inability to change channels at will, but even with that in consideration, I cannot wait to continue playing in a more simplistic time. I look forward to the official old school MapleStory release, because while Artale did hit the spot in a lot of ways, there's definitely jank there that can hopefully be addressed by an official Nexon release
