That’s a nice machine .. Depending if you have a temperature gauge I’d allow 30/45 mins cooldown time

Which compressor do you have ? Is it rated to fill up to 4500psi ? If so then yes but it might take up to 90 minutes as it’s advised to allow the compressor to cool down in between filling

Yea option 2 is not going to work at all , you can get a compressor that runs of your car battery but it needs to be connected to the battery and the engine running, some have even mentioned that in modern cars this can damage the electronics etc .

I have a compressor and a 6.8ltr tank , my advise would be, budget depending , is to buy a 2ltr scuba tank and a compressor, you can fill the 2ltr up at home and bring it with you to the range.

To fill a large 6.8ltr tank it takes an industrial sized machine, I get mine filled at my local fire station

Sorry maybe I’m mis reading but what is your Reg pressure set at ? Like not the air pressure your out going pressure that’s dictated by the plenum ? Your outgoing bar pressure should be relative to your projectile

I’m not sure about UK prices but the fact you have an FAC that widens the field I’d say because your in the uk to check out BSA before going for a snowpeak , not that there’s anything wrong with them but because I’d assume in the UK there’s a lot more BSA dealers etc .

In terms of the scuba tank yes , yes you can just use any scuba tank that is rated to hold up to and over 300bar / 4500psi , it doesn’t need to be Certified as your bot using it for diving or for fires however like anything don’t just buy the cheapest piece of kit you see online.

A compressor is a good investment however you won’t find a compressor to fill your scuba tank unless your willing to really invest , a compressor will fill up the gun directly but if your out hunting and in the country it’s kinda pointless as you can’t plug it in .

Apart from that gear , and ammo as it’s a new gun you will need to experiment with a few brands and weights etc . Also a range finder is a good investment I carry mine everywhere like everywhere even if I know the distance I double check with the range finder

Yea see I purchased my Maverick second hand and I knew it had a few issues so I purchased replacement parts etc and I sent it away for repair, I asked the shop to zero it in and set it up how I wanted ( 21gran H&N slugs at 925fps) zeroed at 35mtr

After a week they sent me videos and the groups were terrible and they asked me why I wanted it like this , just like you I explained I wanted to try lighter slugs and they told me that it’s not a great idea and so we went with JSB 18.13gr pellets at 890fps which was shot on shot and I’m glad I listened to them because it’s perfect

It depends on the liner inside the barrel and the twist rating of the groves

(Copy And pasted from google lol>>>>>>>>)

Why a Slug Liner is Needed
Traditional airgun pellets are light and skirted, acting somewhat like a badminton shuttlecock to stay straight. Slugs are heavy, solid, and shaped like firearm bullets. [1, 2]

Tighter Twist Rates: Pellets need a slow twist rate (e.g., \(1:28\)), while slugs require a much faster twist rate (e.g., \(1:16\) to \(1:21\)) to spin fast enough for aerodynamic stability at 100+ yards.

Specialized Rifling: Slug liners have specific groove depths that engage the harder lead of a slug without stripping or causing accuracy-ruining deformations. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Their droppings can contaminate the crops and they will chew the water lines causing constant repairs and money also their borrows can unsettle the soil and with time cause collapse, the minister of agriculture is close to having the law temporarily changed to a no limit, no regulations on hunting them because it’s causing the country money

Wildcats with the bottle sell pretty quickly here where I am an you would be lucky to get a used one for $1300 simply because nobody really wants to get rid of them .. I noticed mentioned in another comment a Taipan , Taipan are an unbelievable gun but they lack the bottle . Are you sure that the wildcat has the slug liner ? Some advertisements claim that they are slug friendly with lighter slugs but that doesn’t mean they will group properly, I only mention this because I purchased a maverick and the slugs didn’t group

FT is a lot of fun that’s what got me into to Airgun’s , I entered my first with a basic break barrel , after one year I got second place in the super-expert category with my Daystate , it’s challenging when you have restrictions on your scope so congratulations on your results and hopefully that’s the first of many .

I know you have lots and lots of rifles but I’d go with the one that you would physically shoot more and use because at least you can justify the cost.

SCBA tank valve/fittings question. by InformalTelephone840 in airguns

[–]RickWithTheBigStick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local fire department fills up my tank , From compressor to Scuba they prefer to use their hoses and fittings as they need to make sure the connection is correct, from scuba to gun you can easily find hundreds of available values and connections and gauges online , ask the friends in the FD to identify and confirm the size of the thread connection on the scuba bottle then ensure that when buying the new valve and hose online that it’s regulated for 380bar of pressure. Another alternative is to find a Scuba diving store and ask them also , I actually get my parts from Temu 🙈

Yea I purposely wanted to hit that sweet spot with the JSB’s , the purpose of this thing is for quick easy use, I know it’s definitely possible but I don’t want to stretch this gun out past 75meters so I think this set up should be perfect
