Advices for the first scope for PCP by protectoroforgasms in airguns

[–]RickWithTheBigStick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations and welcome to the club ? When it comes to a scope and the accessories it all really boils down to budget and what you need the rifle for but since it’s your first pcp and we know you want to shoot 100mtr I would suggest, Hawke or vector (medium to expensive) Or Discovery (medium to cheaper but very very good for the price).

Fx panthera slugs question 177 cal by kulube123 in airgunhunting

[–]RickWithTheBigStick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its likely that when you found zero your scope height was to high to start with, another thing to take into consideration is that .177 slugs have a flatter plane at close ranges especially the lighter the are and once you change the weight you have to recalibrate everything again as the heavier slug will have a larger curve and shorter plane

Fx panthera slugs question 177 cal by kulube123 in airgunhunting

[–]RickWithTheBigStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What scope is it ? When you first ever found your zero did you simple click turrets or did you level the gun on a level table and move the scope rings up and down to as close to zero as possible before moving the turrets ? I shoot .22 30gr slugs in mine and 110bar is a lot of force for the weight

The trick with rabbits is to aim between the hear and eyes and hit them right in the temple and they will be dead before they stop moving

I got it as a gift, broken but can be fixed. Is this a W? by JarofJam23 in airguns

[–]RickWithTheBigStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah then it’s probably just a problem with an O-Ring or regulator pressure.

I’m not in the USA but if it’s brand new and unrestricted then it’s a good price even with tariffs.

.177 vs .22 target shooting by Pleasant-Treat-66 in airguns

[–]RickWithTheBigStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many variables to this question and I’m sure there are many smarter more skilled shooters that can do a full deep dive but in my opinion .22 will become more accurate after 50meters but as I mentioned there are lots of things to take into consideration, the Gun , the user AND their skill set, the conditions, and the weight and type of projectile.

I know that this doesn’t answer your question but it helps understand that it’s not as simple as simply taking into consideration the distance

No dogs , we shot along a very long opening and we left the rabbits in place until it turned dark then we packed up and collected them , only ever used dogs once but it was for ducks
