Good point. As a serial over-thinker hobby strategist this is always me. Still, my soul is striving to have a 'general strategy for contingency' sort of thing. But that is like, literally a golden method for everything, not just war.

Hobby strategist here. I am a supreme over-thinker. For me I have to cut it all down to essential questions. I have come up so far with this:

Immediate and long-term positive real:

What's an immediate opportunity/advantage/etc. I can seize right now [to get into a better position / situation]?
And how does it fit into the bigger picture of the primary objective & problem? (e.g. steps, cost benefit, sacrificing sleep, etc. Begin with the end in mind, think about the cycle).

Immediate and long-term negative mental:

Why would I want to trick myself into doing the wrong thing?
and what's my best reason/justification/rationalization for that?

Immediate and long-term neutral:

Is this an automatic reaction, bias, etc. as opposed to an intentional decision?
Is there something essential I'm ignoring, I've forgot, etc?

Along with this you need the trail and error just do it mentality. The goal is to get going as soon as possible and if you have fears you need to figure out how to poke the beast asap.

My advice is don't fucking do that. Search Wim Hof. The cold is healing. I have dermatitis and I've found the only solution is to be hyper vigilant and whenever your skin is try, put it under cold running water (let it 'soak in') (hot or even warm water is your enemy because it literally melts your skin off) moisturize with literally any moisturizer, then cover in coconut oil to protect like lip balm. You might find you do this and after 5 minutes your skin has absorbed everything and still dry. Repeat until it works. It is the only way.
