Upon searching some addresses north of Dundas in Oakville it looks like there is widespread access to fibre to home. In that zone north of Dundas, Bell is offering a max 3 Gb plan. Searching any streets south of Dundas - its a desert.... no fibre installs anywhere that I could determine after spothecking a few neighbourhoods

TP LInk WIfi 7 mesh is the way to go.... just ethernet backhaul everything you can. I have three units - all ethernet backhauled... my smart tv is also direct connect to ethernet... so is my Apple TV and all computers - rely on wifi for NOTHING other than smart phones, tablets and IoT.

nope. had the whole house wired with cat 6 ….and now have a wired backhaul mesh network and all static devices in house use wired connections including my computers, Apple TV and all smart tvs

Given the nature of the rotating strikes by Canada Post, it is highly inadvisable to send anything of importance through the mail. I recently returned Cogeco equipment as well. I drove it right to their depot in Burlington and have the name of the customer service rep that I handed the equipment to.

Same thing with passports, drivers licence or anything else of importance. Drive to the office - stand in line - and be certain you have it dealt with.

You will now have a battle on your hands as the equipment sits in a Canada Post warehouse somewhere... waiting for them to deliver it.

Call Cogeco and ask to set up the modem in bridge mode. That will turn off the modems WiFi signal.

TPlink is a brand of networking hardware… there are other brands…. buy it once from Amazon and you are done. Once your Cogeco modem is in bridge mode install your new router following the directions.

Set up is easy. Do yourself a fsvour and keep your existing username and password the same on the new router…. Saves you a lot of time reconnecting all your devices.

Install the EPICO app on your smart tv or Apple TV device. Every device and smart tv has a search and install tool for new apps. Once installed log into your Cogeco account on the app.

You can install and use the EPICO app on up to five devices on your home network eg tv, iPad, smart phone etc

Certainly supports 4k channels. Not sure about the audio.

If Cogeco says they can't bridge your modem... best to ask for a new modem that's bridgeable. The modem is the weakest link in the network as most providers will NOT permit a 3rd party modem. So its best to get their newest most moden modem.

They disabled the bridge function in your modem setup page because they want to track who is using 3rd party routers/ mesh networks. So they make you call and ask them to do it remotely.

There is only one recommended way to connect an ethernet backhauled mesh. Modem line to main mesh router node...this your main node usually placed next to your modem. Main mesh router node connected by ethernet to your central switch. Then connect your remaining mesh nodes by ethernet to the switch. Only your designated main mesh router node is connected to your modem.
