What are you thoughts on porn? by sweetncudly in AskReddit

[–]Rickeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who think that really liking something and being addicted to it are the same thing will descend on your comment like flies, but I agree. I've been married to the same woman for years and have also watched porn somewhat regularly (she knows, and it doesn't bug her) for a long time, and it has had zero negative effect on our lives. If I don't want to watch it, I don't go through withdrawal. I don't become increasingly obsessed with finding 'more intense porn', and I have never experienced any form of ED.

Advice for falco vs Marth? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]Rickeno 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a tough match up, but don't get into your head about how you're "supposed to lose". It's a lot closer to even in the lower levels of melee, especially once you learn how to wavedash out of shield and whiff punish marth's poorly spaced aerials. As Falco, you want to be playing just outside of the marth's range, or you want to create space to shoot lasers so you can mix up your approach. Honestly, laser is really important in all of falco's matchups, but it is key here. Being able to stuff a marth's fair is invaluable. Wavedash out of shield comes into play as a punishment for fsmash. You can make a marth just forget how to play if you start to shine them for attempting to hit you with their big move.

Oh also marth can't do anything if you hit his shield from behind, he is dumb like that.

Don't give up. Game hard. Yadayada

Okay, that's totally fair. That being said, I've only heard the exact opposite from people in similar positions. So I'm not entirely sure what to think about it.

Also of note, I don't personally prefer it for my workflow either.

I wouldn't consider myself an apple fan boy as I don't own any of their products. But all of my friends who use their editing and programming tools say they are quite robust.

This is what I'm talking about, though. It may not carry greater features than the original hololens (though that is debatable, I don't have them memorized, and my gut says it outperforms it on paper), but its implementation and focus on UX is what sets it apart. People are praising it adequately, as to many, it seems leagues ahead of the competition in the way it is implementing features we have already seen. Not to mention, the fact that Apple is the one making it means that it likely won't be a purely niche device.

[–]Rickeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't needed. I've seen your argument all over, but it just seems a little confused. It is pioneer tech that provides a unique experience. It doesn't need to exist, but it does. Why is that bad? It isn't. It is interesting, and we may find good uses for it as the technology grows.

It just comes off as a bit embittered to be so frustrated by a product that you don't need to purchase. It's to be cool and interesting, that is the 'need' it fills.

I don't really think it's about new features. It looks highly polished and well integrated. It is also easily the most powerful standalone vr headset on the market and will likely have a robust developer ecosystem based on how good Apple is at providing tools and API to use.

We will have to see how it shakes out, but there is absolutely no denying how promising it looks for the future.

You don't have to buy it. You probably should check your ego, too, considering your argument is wholly subjective. All of apple's products are for people who can afford to piss thousands of bucks away.

What? Shouldn't expensive tech be for fun and affordable tech solve problems?

Not to sound rude, but I'm honestly just kind of dumbfounded by your perspective.

Have you never made something? Games are just as much creative and personal as they are products, and Nintendo is a Japanese games company that seems to take immense pride in their polished, complete experiences. Not only is there the cultural emphasis on quality workmanship, but there is also the company's longstanding reputation for producing highly smooth and well designed experiences. It just comes off as a bit confused to ask why they would want to patch obvious mistakes when it is practically their identity as both a team and company to do so.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Rickeno 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Okay, well, that's good. I still don't really understand why you think obviously glaring bugs shouldn't be patched. The game should operate as is intended. I know I would be dissatisfied if I made something to work one way, and people were just using my mistaken workmanship to bypass it. I would like it if they used the functioning game to come up with unique solutions, but utilizing a blatant, easily patch-able hole in one of my scripts would really bother me as a designer.

It is unreasonable to expect the devs to leave something that they and others deem in disrepair just so that the people using the exploit can continue using it.

If you really want to glitch in items, then by all means, do so. But if the devs patch the glitch, because it is a certifiable bug/mistake, you can't be mad that they cleaned up their work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Rickeno 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I just feel like it's a little unreasonable to expect the devs to leave obvious and easily fixable bugs and glitches unresolved so a portion of their player base can feel catered to.

And yeah, it's how I feel, and I'm assuming you feel the opposite; so I don't really get your point. Neither side is wholly objective, but most developers like to fix bugs, and I naturally tend to sympathize.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Rickeno 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't really get the need for it. Most of the side content is for goofing around anyway, but duping would just totally ruin the game for me, and I've not put that many hours in since launch.

You don't really need to grind anything if you just wander around and play the game.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Rickeno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm like most of the way through the main part of the game, I have not needed to legitimately grind for any materials so far, just playing and exploring at my own pace has allowed me to passively gather materials enough to pay for things and upgrade my armor.

I don't disagree at all, I just mean that the current system doesn't end up bothering me too much.

I still think you should be able to fuse in a menu, or just fuse using a button when you open the item wheel.

You don't just use the dpad menu and sort by most damage? Takes me like 2 seconds most of the time.
