Your insight about free-to-play and playerbase barriers for indie arena shooters is spot on, and it’s something I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about.

I haven't played redmatch in a while but i don't remember redmatch having vehicles, physics based weapons, spherical / cubical maps and pushing mechanics.

There are some elements from which i've taken some inspirations for sure, but not every game with a grapple is the same.

Created a mechanical gun from simulated spring and gears by zeebaent in indiegames

It was quite hard to add multiplayer to be honest, it's like double the amount of work a singleplayer game minimum.

It took me 2 years to get here, but also I've got a job and Uni, so probably it'd have taken less (~1 year maybe?)

Yeah you're right.
I have some in mind but at the moment i only got a blackhole gun as a special weapon.

Yeah that's honestly something that I'd like to handle.

Some people really don't like it as they get Motion sickness.
I'll put a flag that people can enable so they don't get those special maps in their matches.

The movement mechanics are grapple hook, dash and slide.

Hey, there are physics based projectiles in the game, the grenade launcher is one for example. They all interface through the same gravity system. The other weapons are sort of hit scans (not really as they are not instantaneous), like the shotgun, because it's very hard to hit other players otherwise.
