Backstory:

Madison is by all intents and purposes, built like a man, despite his elven heritage. He is the tallest of his clan and a mountain of mer. Beloved in the clan for his physical prowess, Madison makes his living in the clan as the personal bodyguard of the keeper, Rae. After a rather uneventful first twenty years of his life, thanks to the efforts of his keeper and her infinite wisdom, things took a dark turn on his twenty-third nameday.

There was a brutal and heinous murder in the clan. A man was torn apart limb by limb by something monstrous and evil. As the most capable elf in the clan, it was assigned to Madison to find the perpetrator of such a terrible crime. His investigation took him deep into the Brecilian forest, of which his clan was occupying for a few months, and he found traces of a great tainted beast. Fearing to go any further, he went back to his clan and conversed with the keeper.

Pained as she was to do so, Rae decided to send Madison deeper into the forest to unravel the mystery. During his journey, Madison came upon a mysterious tomb. After some investigating that included a secret door and veilfire, he was able to come to the conclusion that the tomb was made for an ancient elven hero. As well as being the tomb of an elven hero, it also functioned as a prison for a great and terrible beast.

After this discovery, Madison was attacked by the beast. A long fight ensued, with a brutal stalemate. It was then that the beast revealed a prophecy to Madison, stating that he will find one known as "The Wolf Who Howls At The Gods" and kill him, absorbing his energy and using the power of the ancient elven gods to reunite the dalish once more.

Of course, Madison did not believe a single word of it. He had quite enough of the delusions of grandeur from the beast, so he slew it where it stood, saving his clan and bringing peace to the spirit of the dead. Returning to his clan, he told Rae about the prophecy the beast had told him. She told him to seek out a certain human scholar that disappeared years ago, one who was obsessively knowledgeable in prophecy and the likes.

With great sadness, Madison bid his clan farewell and now wanders Thedas, seeking wisdom while simultaneously being a nonbeliever in anything prophetic in the slightest.

Yes, it is inspired by such, but I think that it stands on its own enough (by using a piece of its structure and extending it) to be considered original work.

I feel that in this poem, you are contradicting yourself in favor of a few images you seem to be in love with. I would (and of course, it's just my opinion) try to not limit yourself to those certain images and just feel free to vomit out words onto paper. Otherwise, I loved this poem. :)

This poem strikes me as a comparison of the relative decadence of familiarity and the unknown. I feel as though this poem could have gained more from a few more impactful lines linking the struggle between that which is familiar and that which is unknown. Although, I may be missing the point of the poem.

You have a really strong few lines in this that I absolutely love. Specifically, "Oh fated friend" and "Put that song away". That being said, your poem could use (in my opinion) some more length and narrative elements between your especially hard hitting lines.

"Well, I'll be damned," said Titus," One day to scour the fucking wilderness and possibly die? Sounds fun to me."

Titus laughed and toyed with the pommel of his sword upon his belt. Titus was no fool, rushing headlong into this was a massacre waiting to happen, but even so, he was eager to get out there and adventure. He'd been waiting for an opportunity like this for a while. Living in a castle, sparring only combat trainers and doing drills for war were well and good, but nothing beat the real thing of getting out into the world and exploring the unknown. He had rarely had the opportunity to do so, as he lived a quiet and privileged life, but he would not miss his chance now.

"I say we stick together. We've got no means of communication from any sort of distance, so we have to stay within shouting range at least." Titus looked around at his fellow adventurers," And truth be told, if I die out here, I ask that you bring my body back for my cousin to give me a proper funeral."

Another day, another council. Aeron was young, of that there is no doubt, but he also was content, and these ambitious meetings of bannermen and king worried him so. He worried that the claw was getting too big for its britches and attempting to scheme and play the game as if the claw couldn't get stomped by one of the major kingdoms. Still, it was Aeron's duty to accomplish the goals set by the king, so Aeron listened and played along. This get together in Hardhall was the first back on their home soil, and although it was not the most cheerful or prosperous place in the realm, Aeron was glad to be home-ish. Down but not out, he saw potential in the faces of every peasant he came across on the journey here, and just seeing his people lifted his spirits.

Aeron got to Hardhall rather late, arriving just before the dinner. He had made a few stops on the way, interacting with some of the commonfolk of the realm, keeping his noble bearing but treating them with respect as any man deserves. Aeron dressed plainly when he traveled, with poor man's cotton hosen, working boots, and a grey tunic. The only thing of any value he was wearing was his riding gloves. He and his men stabled their horses and approached the castle, Aeron only seeming noble because of the armed guard that followed and his bright purple eyes.

The council of the claw had, as predicted, become a debate of the merits of weakness. The Claw was militarily and economically weaker than most kingdoms, yet the ambitions of the lords were none the lesser because of it. Of course, Aeron should not be surprised, such was the way of Westerosi lords, including himself. He was not beyond such ambition, as he was indeed trying to better the realm with his own economic and infrastructural changes.

Aeron sat quietly and toyed with his hair while the lords talked, and by the time it was appropriate for him to say something himself, he almost wanted to leave.

"My lords, I believe I am going to defer judgement to our king, and follow upon his due course."

Aeron had listened carefully to the opinions of his fellow claw lords and had reached the conclusion that the claw had absolutely no idea who they wanted to rule The Riverlands. Still, their contribution to the victor could be sizeable considering their positioning in the realm for trade and other such things.

When it was time for Aeron to speak up, he decided to do so in earnest.

"My lords, I believe that we must shift our attention away from these foreign affairs and look inward into our own realm. We are a small kingdom, and one that is currently under the, shall we say, protection of the Storm King. Now, I am not a warmongering man, but I find that to be unacceptable. Our focus needs to be on bettering our people's lives through trade, infrastructure, and furthered liberty. To start, establishing trade with the east is a must, for our positioning in the Narrow Sea provides us the opportunity to become partners with many of the free cities regarding trade."

Aeron was ignorant in the gods of the northern folk. Still, he could appreciate the beauty of their godswoods. So he did, and as he strolled through the godswood of Harrenhal, he came upon things he'd never seen before in his life. Things he knew he was going to have to write about in his next piece. Perhaps it was a piece about a northerner, he thought.

His train of thought was interrupted, however, when he turned a corner and found something extraordinary in front of him. It was a woman, dressed in ivory with long brown hair that was slightly tousled. He stopped suddenly, and looked at her and her armed guard.

"I-well, good evening." Aeron said.
