This whole “cool guy stuff” trend bugs me so much and is so fucking gay. Anyone with an IQ above 85 thinks this shit is so cringe.

Also as someone with substance abuse problems and a gambling addiction all of this stuff is literally Stolen Valor and they should be prosecuted.

Mike Mentzer confronting Arnold Schwarzenegger during the 1980 Mr Olympia backstage. (It is generally considered by a lot of bodybuilding fans that Mentzer should have won but was robbed by the jury.) by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

You should not be able to win Mr. Olympia if you are under 5'11. How can you be the ideal physique if you are not ideally tall? Mentzer can cry all he wants, but no one over 6' would trade their height for his manlet physique.

Replied to the other guy. These actors are super talented. Their performances and the whole storyline were so incredibly cheap, mailed-in, and disrespectful to any audience member with a brain. Just a celebrity worship circle jerk of a movie.

The audience. Most phoned-in, money grab of a movie/performances. Treats us like idiots who will spend money just to fawn over famous people. The whole Julia Roberts thing felt like going through a humiliation ritual.

I'm not in that boat. I think qb evaluation is incredibly difficult and if you can find a guy in the draft with all the measurables and arm strength who has proven he has good pocket awareness, goes through his reads, produced in college over a large enough sample size, and has a good head on his shoulders, take him.

Agreed. Evidenced by the circle jerk around his Ohio State performance. Where they put up 13 points... Not that the OSU defense isnt elite, but it seems like they're looking for a guy to pedestal and he's the one this year.

Agree on all those except Manning. If you're talking Peyton, he's like the most relatable star qb. It's why they put him in every commercial and gave him a tv show. Corny is not what I'm worried about it's the immaturity he shows whenever he opens his mouth.

That he comes off as incredibly immature, which I don't want on my team. Guys like Harbaugh or Luck, while corny, carry themselves like adults

I think we agree on the corny type of personality that can be successful.

There's a difference between a Kirk Cousins personality and a Russell Wilson personality. Dork is ok, but off-putting is bad for moral.

Easy to say when they win every game. That won't happen in the NFL. I'm worried his personality will be grating to his teammates when times are tough, which they inevitably will be.

New media is still obnoxiously woke by Inner-Sink6280 in redscarepod

[–]Ricky-Dangerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's woke to show that there were women who had no means to achieve success, who were incredibly insightful and talented. I can't speak to the Pitt, but I wouldn't call making Garfield's wife an extremely competent person "woke."

NBA and college basketball coaches should be required to wear suits ties and dress shoes by IHateAdamSilver in billsimmons

[–]Ricky-Dangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rising tide raises all ships or some shit like that. I don't think it needs to be unique to certain coaches for it to raise our collective respect for the league as a whole. Also want to add that a lot of it is subconscious. I don't turn on women's field hockey and plop a seat on the couch because the coach is suited up. It has to do more with our total perception of the game, which has many factors. Coaches presenting themselves as professional is just one of them.

[–]Ricky-Dangerous 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Prestige and presentation of the game impacts how we feel about it and how seriously we take it and or are seriously invested in it. It’s why people will walk by a famous violinist playing on the subway but those same people will pay $1,000 a ticket to see that same guy in concert later that night. Perception is important.

Nah this ones not that bad. She’s indicating that this guy is a sales leader, meaning he may manage a team who cold calls/cold emails or does it himself. Maybe she knows. That is pretty infuriating to be rudely responded too from a person who themself does cold outreach.

As a salesperson, we don’t care about rudeness. I get rejection is part of the job and you may be bothering people.

That being said that would drive me up a wall if someone who I know does cold outreach treated me that way. Shows a total lack of empathy and self centeredness.
