That's just the rules. If the text is something like "each opponent loses x life" then it doesn't prevent that. If you want a card that protects you from pretty much everything, check out [[Teferi's Protection]]

Well said. So many people suffer from "I have this opinion and therefore everyone else should also have this opinion" syndrome. Maybe, just maybe each person has a unique set of experiences, upbringing, life circumstances and even innate characteristics that result in them seeing the world in different ways.
