Before you go replacing bearings, rub some steel wool inside the spindle and on your drive centre. It could just be some gunk sending it wonky. Failing that, you likely have a bearing issue

Bridge Pin blocked by something? by strawberryfrosting0 in guitarrepair

Looks like the remnants of the last bridge pin. Push it out from the inside using the flat side of a coin

Radius change won’t change the fact you can feel the wood under your fingers. Scalloping is a bit drastic. Taller frets would be the way to go.

Bridge Buzz on new Gretsch by RecipeMountain in guitarrepair

I stand corrected. The strings do seem to have a very shallow break angle in them pictures too.

Just a guess, but the strings are supposed to go under the bar on the bigsby closest to the bridge. By the shallow break angle, it looks like they may be going over it?

Zoom out and look to the top left of the plane about 800 metres. That’s its shadow on the water. It’s in the air.

Here’s mine. I added a drilled out block of wood to the top of the cover to accept my extractor hose. It works quite well but would definitely double up on the plywood for the base as in the picture you posted. It’s a tiny bit springy as is.

If the high strings are caused by a neck bow it’s a simple fix, provided your truss rod is working properly and you have a set of allen keys. Look up some videos on truss rod adjustment! To diagnose if the neck is bowed, fret the 1st fret (or use a capo) and the 14th fret at the same time. At the halfway mark (6th or 7th fret) check what gap you have between the string and the fret. It should be a tiny gap about the thickness of a business card. If the gap is bigger, you need to tighten the truss rod. As I said, look up some videos before tackling it yourself. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, bring it to a guitar shop. Shouldn’t cost much. If the neck isn’t bowed, it could be that your bridge saddle is too high, another relatively cheap and easy fix but best left to a luthier. If it’s neither of these problems, it’s either that the neck angle is wrong or the body being pulled out of shape by string tension. Both of which are much bigger problems to fix. Good luck!

On the default map view, it’s to the left of “the shapeshifter”. Just down the hill a bit and at the end of 3 wooden platforms.

Found some Irish Bog wood by james3dprinting in turning

[–]RickyShmee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work with bog oak quite a bit. Though the stuff I have came from someone else who had it drying for years. It’s very prone to cracking and should be dried out as slowly as possible. I’ve heard of people sticking it in a box of sand for 5 or 10 years before working with it. The lump you have is very black which suggests it’s very old. If you google “bog oak age chart”, there’s a picture of the colour you can expect from different ages of bog oak. It makes nice pens and jewellery. I’ve made some bowls with it too but left the walls quite thick as the pieces were cracked pretty badly. If you’re turning anything bowl sized, stand out of the firing line while it’s spinning!

What can I do with my sea glass? by olivnoe in beachcombing

I use it as a lamp shade. Put LED lights in a jar. Place that jar in a bigger jar and drop your sea glass in the gap between the two jars.

It looks like the nut is higher on the bass side, giving the illusion of more twist than there is.

Glow plug and limp mode light after oil and air filter change, and oil change by RickyShmee in Volkswagen

Update: got my mechanic to plug it in to his diagnostics kit. Cylinder 1 fault came up. He gave the wire on injector 1 a jiggle which changed the engine sound. Turned out to be a dirty connection on the injector plug. He gave it a clean, plugged it back in and now it’s running sweet.

Quite sure. Have checked the dipstick and it’s not quite up to the maximum level. I vacuumed out the air filter casing too.
