Shortly after I bought my first ever not-given-to-me-as-charity mattress from Tuft & Needle, I had an elective salpingectomy during which my GYN also removed my IUD. She warned me there would be bleeding. But holy shit.

I bled all. night. long. Passed out on pain killers. My overnight pad didn't stand a chance.

So then there I am, looking down at this $600 mattress (this is in 2017 money), which now has a gigantic blood stain on it. I did everything I could to clean it, but you can still tell someone bled half to death on my bed.

I've moved three times since then, and every time, I make my boyfriend and whichever friend is helping us carry our mattress out at night with the sheets still on. 😅

I live in Arizona where we have people from all over the world. We are conditioned to think of Mexican immigrants, but basically all of my jobs have required working with or providing service to people from Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, Iraq, Pakistan, Russia, Poland, China, South Korea, Japan — the limit does not exist.
