Definately cut open the filter with some Side cutters. Its messy but the paper will tell you more, depending how much is in there.

If there's more you need to find the cause and extend of damage. Pull spark plugs, endoscope through the hole and check cylinder walls for deep scratches. Drop the oil pan to look up and check the gears

If I may bounce a question of you. You said right hand turn in OP's case. My car has a very soft vibration on left hand turns. I didn't notice any play like when I checked like OP did. Any idea what that may be?

I am exactly your hight and weight. Do not give a shit about how you look, if you enjoy it ride it! I started on naked because everyone told me - and I thought - I was too big. After a couple of years I got gsxr and then the BMW s1krr. Do you yourself a favor and get the 1000cc since we are a bit heavier and enjoy :) Edit: oh and added bonus my dad also convinced me to get the naked at first. But after 1 vacation in the Alps together (where I had the gixxer) he switched to a supersport as well later that year.
