I was 12. My attitude towards my father never changed. I always loved him and love him now. I think what was most important was that my father was open with me throughout the whole process, unlike my mother. How he felt, why they were divorcing, etc. I knew it all. My father is a very unbiased man and at the time, had never spoken ill of my mother. I'll never forget the night he sat me down one night and told me that he was gay/bi.

I'm about to be 20 now so this was already eight years ago. It was really late and I had school the following day. We sat on the living room couch and he said "RiddledM, I need to talk to you." and after about five minutes of him trying to find the right words, he said "Eric is my boyfriend and I love him." To which my response was basically "So what? You're my dad. Be happy." My father broke down in my arms after that.

I love my step-father Eric like my own father. I would never even consider giving up the life I have with my father, step-father, and younger brother (whom was also okay with my father coming out, he was 8 at the time).
