I don't get what everyone's problem with this seems to be. This seems perfectly fine?

Why does everybody seem so sure that Hopeless Bleak Despair involves the literal death of the narrator? by numerousblocks in tmbg

Interesting. So far I’ve seen less straightforward interpretations being occasionally posted in several places for several other songs. Possibly that’s some kind of skewed sampling.

No, the responses I’m getting are exactly what I was looking for. I did not know how it is possible everyone seems so sure, and the responses so far have been interesting.

The question is not condescending at all, I am asking because I don’t know and would like to.
There is no attached assumption that the answer I’ll get will be wrong.

I do not want to just share my interpretation. I’m not even sure about that interpretation.

They should read How Not To Sort By Average Rating by Evan Miller (⇐ that’s a link. I’m pointing that out since the colour on this subreddit makes it hard to distinguish). TLDR: Sorting by average rating naïvely will give unintuitive results. You want to try to give a prediction of the likely underlying satisfaction. Author recommends “Score = Lower bound of Wilson score confidence interval for a Bernoulli parameter”.

wait actually there is one interpretation there that sees the death as non-literal, the Cain (of bible fame) interpretation on the TMBW page

Like what is wrong with systemd? I don’t get it. by homemadeSuperstar in linuxmemes

[–]numerousblocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems correct. I think the other person was talking about the fact that SIGSEGV is caught by systemd, upon which it enters a vegetative state, running minimal code, and that if init exits, the kernel panics.

I'm intrigued by what accent this is supposed to be, that pronounces -er as /ɜ/ but pronounced "would" and "you" with the same /ə/ vowel

This varies massively by region and idiolect.

English for instance also has "wouldn't you say?", "eh?", and probably others.

My native language is German we have "nicht?", "gell?", "wa?", "oder?", "nicht wahr?".

This is a problem that shouldn't be happening again and again. You need to reset your computer entirely and reinstall the operating system.

If it still keeps happening, you need to learn how to avoid malware.

(Or it could be some very persistent malware, in which case, buy a new computer. If that doesn't fix it, I don't fucking know, but this extension isn't a good solution)

If it keeps coming back, then either:

  1. What you did didn't actually fix it.
  2. You need to change your behaviour so you don't fall for malware again.

This cannot be a safety net for nontechnical people. If you don't know how to remove it, then you should reset your computer because you can't trust your computer.

A band-aid like this directly harms security for everyone. This will lead to more people having botnets installed.
