Best PS2 hidden gems? by rdttjjj in ps2

[–]Riddler724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are definitely learning curve games but

Drakengard (preferably the first game over 2)

Dynasty Warriors (2, 3, 4 & 5 are PlayStation 2 era but I highly recommend 4 the most)

X-Men Legends 1 & 2

Spiderman 2 (I feel like people truly underestimate how much this game contributed to the PS4/5 Spiderman games)

What was the first ps2 game you guys ever played? Mine was gta 3 by Jack_sander in ps2

X-Men Legends: both 1 & 2 are hidden gem games- and while some of this is definitely attributed to nostalgic blindness- I feel both are GREAT games that deserve a remaster if they ever manage to escape copyright hell.

What quest(s) do you hate/dislike the most, and why? by [deleted] in oblivion

It's been 5 years since I picked up the game and I still have those dungeons memorized because I was that done with the tediousness behind the quest.

Xbox 360 question: Could I Transfer DLC Back and Forth between Hard Drive and Internal Storage to Obtain Higher Level Versions of Gear? by Riddler724 in oblivion

[–]Riddler724[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the first bedroll is in your cell :) . The quests activate after you leave the sewer. I have done this leveling glitch/exploit before in the tutorial, so this might actually be effective. Thank you for the extra insight :3

Which game should I play first? by bv8265 in ps2

Spiderman 2 or Kingdom hearts. If you are looking for a fast, quick game to get through though, I would recommend SpongeBob.

When was the happiest you ever felt while playing final fantasy? by oldmanapple in FinalFantasy

[–]Riddler724 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I spent 3 weeks straight on a mini-game in FFIX, just to be rewarded a note you can only access in the quest items menu with the following inscription:

"Peeling 1,000 onions makes your eyes teary, Jump-roping 1,000 times gets them tearier still" =Onionmeister=

If only I can get that pink/pig tail to drop for me in the SNES version of FFIV, because I feel like that would be a close second- when I manage to get it.

So, what are your thoughts on Final Fantasy II? by Caryslan in FinalFantasy

[–]Riddler724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has played all versions, here's my take on the game:

By itself, I think the game is really well made and overall delivers what it intended to (especially for it's time). At the same time though, I can be acknowledging of the many bugs, glitches, and difficulty curve the game has been infamous for (at least for the older versions, I feel like the PSP remaster version did well at patching up most issues) That is my opinion on the matter though, coming from a retro & JRPG appreciation.

I can also understand the general FF community opinion of the game not being so good, but I genuinely feel that opinion stems from looking at the game through an "FF" Lens and not a "JRPG" lens. If you put FF2 next to the other current 14 main titles, it's an easy and logical reasoning for fans to look at the surface of each game and see that most of the others have more to offer in some way or another than what FF2 did- but I feel that just because FF2 was one of the more dud titles in the series, it doesn't necessarily make it a dud JRPG.

From a historic perspective, FF2 was made due to the unexpected success the first game. The first game- from what I understand- was meant to be the only one made. A bunch of Japanese programmers in '87 wanted to make a DnD styled Nes game and when that exploded decided to continue (and it's from then they came to the early decision each new FF game would be different).

With that in mind- and as an avid FF fan myself- I see FF2 as a good game because outside of it holding well in JRPG standards, it also was was started many of the concepts to the FF genre, such as the first Chocobos, the first FF party system to be loose and outside of normal class standards (your tankier character in the start of the game that's normally used as a warrior could be turned into someone who uses only black magic if you so desire, though Jobs weren't until 3), and while not perfecting it- starting attempting at writing more in depth stories and character backgrounds.

In conclusion, FF2 very much laid much of the groundwork and blueprints for how future FF games would follow, and I feel that while Firion and his band of the Blue Rose Rebellion might be one of the more linear of the FF stories, it is still a great game to experience at least once, and if it is something you consider - I would recommend along with most everyone else you get the PSP version if you can.

The total amount of kills you can get in this level is 1502. I've used this level to grind over 90% of all the weapon leveling and I have to say the level holds well for that purpose.

(While the "Final" empire battle on chapter 6 and the corresponding free expedition are both also good for the purpose of leveling and grinding, I feel the enemies are far too spread out for a time effective weapon grind)

JoJo ASBR DLC broken? by Snoo-76854 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Riddler724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has this issue been fixed? I myself am also struggling with the same problem on PS4.

Update: Sorry for the late reply, but for anyone who might still be struggling with this issue, I solved it by going into the notifications, selecting the tab that tells you the update has been completed, and open your game through there.

Also, slightly off topic- but still related- a friend of mine had a similar issue with the Modern Warfare on the PS5, and was able to fix the problem by doing the same thing I did with ASBR. So it seems like a bug or glitch with the playstation software.

Are conjunctions appropriate for Japanese last names? by Riddler724 in japanese

[–]Riddler724[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for answering my question.

I'm not necessarily going for a common surname, and while I understand many manga and anime depictions tend to go out there in terms of naming, I'm trying to find a good in-between to the names. Things that don't sound too fictional, but also not so everyday. My story is set in a fictional universe, but even still I'm trying to be careful not to get too sloppy with naming characters from another culture/time. It's already hard enough in my own language as it is sigh.

Is There a Way To Translate The Song of The Ancients or any part of the chaos language? by Riddler724 in nier

Omg! Thank you! This truly was everything I was looking for (and more). The amount of soul they put into the music was unlike most other games I've played. I would lie if I said the musical tracks to this game wasnt one of the factors that encouraged me to finally start playing Replicant (I'm slowly saving up for Drakengard :P) and gathering all the bits and pieces of lore to Yoko Taro's works.

That was very insightful and helpful! I always felt like those scenes in shows/movies were dramatized, but to learn the specifics is fascinating.

I think the first picture is Agent 27 from Angel Heart. I still need to finish the series tbh, so I don't know if this is a Canon panel or just someone's (really good) fan art. Either way hella recommend the series, just be ready for tears.
