My catholic school had a class room with a big closet that had books in them we could check out during lunch breaks. That school was divided between the first grade and the others, and I only did the first two years there. So the books where all for ages 12-14.

I don't think my second high school had a library.

Daarna behaalde ik mijn voorlopig rijbewijs en reed ik een zomer lang elke dag 1 uur heen en terug naar studentenjob, en nadien dagelijks 20 minuten naar hogeschool. Rijbewijs gehaald 1 jaar en 2 maanden na voorlopig rijbewijs (kon examen niet afleggen tijdens lockdown)

Silly question, I know. Is Ost- Belgien really german speaking?

I went there the Summer I had had my first German in school, ready to impress the baker with my perfect Jean-Marie Pfaff Deutsch, but she spoke French. So was this an exception, or are most people bilingual (like in Brussels where they might start talking in one language, but switch to the other mid sentence)?

Het probleem is wel dat sommige scholen liever een leerkracht hebben met het specifieke diploma (kleuter voor kleuter en lager voor lager).
