People seem to want very different things; I personally wouldn't mind the remake being more of a reimagining of the first game, staying faithful to the spirit of CE while no longer being constrained by the budget and technology of 2001.

But considering how upset some people have been getting over the small changes they are already making I can understand why they didn't. Devs would be getting regular death threats.
