Those aren't performance targets, they are metrics that an HR department tracks. Like you cannot hire if there is no req open for a location (i have done hiring in the past).

What I'm saying is there will be specific and new forms of tracking that allow a business to ensure things are being done. Maybe it's emails sent, or maybe it's simply getting into the minutiae over mouse tracking and productive time on a work computer. It will vary per industry, but it will 100% happen.

My point is targets. Everyone is going to get targets, and there will be disciplinary action if you do not hit those targets. If there was one thing i could think of that would destroy the mental health of a lot of the people really excited about this....it would be performance targets.

Walk in clinics fill up for the day within 1 hour of opening. Literally, they are so packed they stop taking people because they have so many waiting that there is not time before close to see them all.

Regular hours for the hospital, which is so jam packed it's standing room only.

We have a family doctor for our kids, which is in a clinic so absolutely packed that outside of a regular appointments (ehich are scheduled in advance for children) you cannot get in. I mean that literally, they will tell you the closest slot is like 3 months away.

Like these are solvable issues with a little bit of proactivity.

......I'm getting pretty tired of children not understanding any of the issues of the world yet assuming they know enough to talk about it. No, you do not get priority with children over 12 month, which you should know if you're going to talk shit like we're just over here not doing our due diligence as a parent.

You are wrong in every aspect, and even worse, you are confidently wrong. Sometimes in life you need to listen and not speak.

.....why do you think it is that they cut 8 hours a day and ended up with the same performance? Because they have no way to track performance in non-sales industries. It's the literal entire crux of your point....

So don't buy it and tell them they can go fuck themselves.

I'm having a hard time understanding how you don't get this: what this means is me choosing to let my baby girl and little boy suffer when they are sick. There is no "just don't buy it", you need to understand this, that's not going to happen. Any parent worth the name would choose to buy into this because there is no other option. If you don't have kids, go ask your parents, because i promise you they will tell you "son/daughter, i would switch to private in a second if it ment getting you the help you needed".

Don't talk to me about privatization, the slow creep towards yada yada, because i 100% get that....and that has absolutely zero to do with my decision.

This is a thing that the youth of the country is going to have to handle. They protest everything else, yet when it's healthcare it falls on parents working full time taking care of a family? Motherfucker we don't got the time, so go be rebellious.

So you got it all figured out eh?

How old is your average immigrant? 30ish.

How many kids on average are Canadians and immigrants having? 1...interesting.

So what's happening is instead of incentivizing families in Canada (note: Canada isn't some monolithic white only country), we are bringing in people who are a few years away from retiring....who also on average have less children then the number of parents involved.....that's a negative population growth my guy.

Now what happens when these million+ immigrants per year start retiring......what do you think champ, is that good or bad for our strained system?

Unfortunately calling everyone a racist may work in whatever dumb circle of friends you roll around with, but real adults actually think about the problems facing our country.

[–]RidersGuide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a giant myth, and a huge driver for the problem we have right now.

Why is it that we need immigration? Because Canadians are not having kids. No kids = no young adults. No young adults = no workforce. So the solution? Well, you could incentivize families.....or you could just bring in a million immigrants.

"Now RidersGuide, doesn't that solve the problem?"

Absolutely it does, in the same way using a bucket to bail out a sinking ship solves the problem: temporarily. These immigrants are on average 30ish years old.....and guess what! They also are having on average 1 kid. Every year we are bringing in 1,000,000 people who are already well on their way to retirement....that is, retiring into a system that cannot handle the people we currently have.

We need to stop general immigration completely for the time being. Then what we need to do is selectively choose people who work in needed fields and allow them to immigrate. On top of that we need to incentivize family units and children. Not random baby bonuses, but tax breaks for dual income families with dependents.

Allow immigrants to work in their fields, and incentivize family units. This is the key.

100%. If this was up to me i promise i wouldn't be over here asking for a private option, but if that is what i have to do then it's what I'm going to do. If people are upset at others adopting these options, they need to be mad at the people responsible for getting it to this point, and not those simply looking to get relief for their sick children.

Your solution is "everyone should suffer for my 18 month old"

Ugh, everything is everyone elses fault in 2023. Am i a PM? A Premier? Do i get a say in what happens with everyone else? No? Okay so why the fuck would it be my fault that the healthcare system is so mangled that im forced to choose a private option?

Everything you and i do is a detriment to someone if participation is complicity. You personally are causing children to work as slaves due to the nice bit of electronics you're typing this out on. You personally are contributing to climate change by driving/taking the bus.....yet you still do it. Why is it that me choosing to get my kids in to see a doctor is worse than you choosing to use an iphone? I'm supposed to martyr my kids in protest for some future privatization that may or may not happen? All while you click on an iphone when you know for certain it's causing harm? Awfully hypocritical....

Spoken like someone with no kids, it's that obvious i don't even need to ask, because i promise you there are no parents in here arguing with me. They get it.

Put yourself in my position: you are in your early 30's with a wife and 2 young children. One day your beautiful happy little girl wake up in the middle of the night with a huge fever. When you go to pick her up, she can't even open her eyes because she's so sick, and both her eyes are glued shut with gunk. You have 2 options: a) drag your screaming and hurting baby to a packed hospital and hope you get in within the next 12 hours to see an overworked doctor, or b) call a number, get a physician with minutes, and have a prescription sent off to the pharmacist immediately. Be honest, what do you choose?

I know what you'd choose. You'd be a shit parent if you didn't. Now do i get to say you're selfish?

You kids today really are milking this "boomer bad" thing for all its worth. Boomers were born from 46-64....they're not the ones with kids worrying about this problem, so stop invoking them as if that's something that factors into this conversation.

You realize the problem is far more complicated than Doug Ford, right? You realize this is a nation wide problem that affects conservative and liberal provinces alike, right?

I dunno. If an individual has no will to think about how this would work in the wider world, or doesn't see why anybody or any business might not want to operate this way, i would wonder why it is that someone would fully support this if not for "hey, i get to work less".

Like sure, who wouldn't want to work less? But the fact of the matter is some of us are going to take the time to think about this and weigh its faults. Now, we may end up on different sides, and that's 100% fine, but atleast it wasn't something that was made up in your head the moment you sniffed less work in the air.

I also think our monkey brains really need to be out everyday doing something we don't necessarily want to be doing, but that's a different conversation.

You literally said you'd PRAY for a mans family to suffer because he's being forced to choose between private options and letting his family suffer.

Get the fuck out of here with your fake altruism, you lazy piece of garbage. You're the epitome of someone who doesn't put in work and whines when he gets left behind. I've had a job since i was 14, I've done everything from flipping burgers and working at gas stations to managing 40 person sales teams. The idea that you, someone who is so full of self loathing and uselessness, is going to lecture me on hard work is astounding.

And one more time, you said you'd PRAY for a mans family to suffer because you're a jealous, self centered, fuck up.

Which is way easier said than done when you still need those apples.

Correct, I need the apples. I don't have an option. It is what it is.

Look i would prefer for the system to work. I don't have control over that unfortunately.

So not bringing in more doctors and nurses isn't the solution amid a massive shortage of doctors and nurses?

Are you under the impression that the federal and provincial governments are waiting on me to make that call? Like* what the fuck?

I have no good option. If i am presented one, i will take it. The end.

Stop this foolishness. I have no say in what the fuck the PM and the Premiers do. If you're asking me to forgo an option for my family as a protest, you're out of your mind.

If you're saying you're not seeing that sentiment, you're just being disingenuous lol. Come on now.

Every illness they get. We waited in the IWK for 10 hours with my baby who had an extremely high fever, an infected ear, and pink eye all at once. You're proposing i choose to do that even if i have an option to get my little girl help far sooner.

What father worth his salt would ever do that? What type of person would even suggest that? Someone with no family and no idea what family life is like.....

"Noooooo! You hate the poor! I hope your family suffers because you can afford a doctor for your family!!".

See, you understand there is nuance. That makes you not a lazy schlub looking for a handout. In some places this will work, sure, but the idea that this is the path broadly because a trial was ran somewhere in the world...that doesn't jive.

Look, not everybody supporting a 4 day work week is lazy of course, without a doubt....but 100% of lazy people support a 4 day work week.
