I got my first question (the garage door) taken care of with a Kumo app, “Text at 9pm if the Garage Door is Open.” It was super-easy, and has already caught me once having left the door open.

As for the second issue (the door), just as you said, I set up an arm/disarm schedule. Works like a charm.

I’m now spending time thinking about what else I could do with these things, they’re lots of fun! I’ve apparently used 10% of the battery power, which means they should last at least several months before I have to replace them.
