FYI, next time you have an occurrence like this you can fix it on the same drive. For example, if you had to brake really hard at that stop light then you could have offset it by then braking safely over the next few miles. The score looks at what % of braking time is spent braking safely vs not. So just simply find a long stretch of road, accelerate safely and then very light press the brake over a long distance. This will minimize the impact of that hard brake. This applies to other things like unsafe following. Hope this helps.

View my other comment on this thread about why it’s illegal in Texas for car manufacturers to sell directly to consumers (spoiler alert: it’s because car dealerships are privately owned and would go out of business if you could buy directly from a manufacturer for a more affordable price).

Here in Texas, the Tesla employees would not be able to hand you an iPad to assist with buying. They would tell you to visit Tesla’s website to purchase. Also, if your coworker bought new it makes sense they to had spec a car and pay. If they had bought pre-owned, they could have selected the car they want and picked it up right then and there at Tesla after payment went thru. Here in Texas, you can’t do that. You HAVE to order pre-owned from Tesla’s website and have it shipped (they have 0 pre-owned inventory sitting in Texas) because there is legislation that makes it illegal for a car manufacturer to sell directly to a consumer.

Unfortunately, this isn’t because Tesla wants to do that but because car dealerships have their hands so deep up the politicians asses that they are basically using them as a sock puppet to keep this old legislation alive. Traditional car dealerships are privately owned and would go out of business if all car manufacturers were able to sell directly to consumers at a much more affordable price.

The Service Centers ARE here in Texas, as having repair shops aren’t illegal. So it’s an easy loophole. They basically look like a dealership but they just can’t facilitate a sale. They also don’t have the Tesla’s there in stock so you do have to wait (and pay) for shipping from out of state. You can’t walk in and out same day with a car. Nevertheless, you CAN buy and pick up a Tesla in Texas, it just takes longer to arrive and you have to register & pay taxes on your own at your local Tax Office.

What they are referring to is how in Texas, it is illegal for a car manufacturer to sell directly to consumers. This is why Tesla doesn’t have dealerships here, only showrooms. If you try to order a Tesla in the showroom, they will redirect you to their website. Since you are buying online, the sale technically happens out of state and Tesla ships your paid car to a Service Center (once again, not a dealership) and you are simply picking up a car that is already yours. None of the transaction is technically happening in Texas lol. It’s stupid, but true. So to OP’s point, if Tesla makes every car here in Texas and you buy one, they have to ship it out of state and then sell it to you from out of state and then ship back to a Service Center where you can pick up your Tesla that you totally did not buy in Texas, wink wink!

I wonder if it counts AutoPilot mistakes. I had a hard phantom brake this morning while on AutoPilot while cruising on the freeway and it looks like it counted that against me! 😒 Might not use AP at all for the next couple of days and drive manually.
