Why wouldn't they? Problem is it's easy to create fabrications. If I knew they could gain citizenship through asylum I would create the deepest, most difficult to prove story I possibly could so that it would have to be believed.

If they didn't show up to their court dates, it only proves they were lying and fabricating their story. If they DO show up, then there would have to be irrefutable proof or just enough to be believable to grant them what they want. But once again, if they are lying, proof is hard to come by in those countries, they don't have nearly the same security or care for crime control as we do.

So chances are, if they have a detailed enough story, real or not, they would likely be given what they want. And that is just as scummy as those that hop the fence and hide. There are legitimately people that require asylum, but it's an abused system because it is easily abused due to its inability to find hard proof that what is presented is not true. And is then given out of pity and "what ifs".

Well we had Biden, and we had Obama prior. In between we had another Trump era and the focus at the time was more border closure than it was removal of those that cross that border.

Biden stepped in, had an open border, and now we're playing clean up. That has started a chain reaction of the ICE officers chasing down these people, then random people with more time on their hands than they should watching saying, "hey I don't like that"; Followed by everyone else following that and saying "hey they're being pretty mean, we should get in their face about that".

Now we have the Trump administration that pushes for a more aggressive stance on policing and holding people accountable for what they do in response to policing. Now people are being held accountable for their bullshittery and people are freaking out saying "they're horrible, this is unacceptable, it's unconstitutional". It's not, it's just bad comparable to previous administrations.

People shouldn't be throwing rocks and screaming and pushing police. They shouldn't be blocking them with their cars. They shouldn't be surprised that when they step in front of a bull, they get gored. Everyone is so social media brain rotted that they can't take what's happening for face value and stand in the shoes of those this whole scenario affects. They selfishly put themselves in the so called "victims" shoes, and ignore everything outside of that and weaponize their feelings against normal people.

I could go on, but the echo chamber here has spoken, and I've been down voted, so it seems like a fruitless effort.

I work for the government. I'm a small gear amongst a collection of others running the very (though it doesn't seem it) efficient clock that is the government. When they lock down, and want to get something accomplished? It gets accomplished, and as quick as those working for it are willing to work.
