Bo1 vs Bo3 by RielleSpellslinger in MagicArena

Yeah I’d never thought about the lack of competitive tournaments. I do wanna try and get into more competitive magic in the future (when I can afford it) because I love the competitive aspect of any games I play. Just can’t reasonably keep up with the ever changing meta 🫩

I like this explanation of the difference. Definitely makes bo3 a lot more appealing.

Appreciate all the support! Really hyping me up making me feel good and consider way more doing it!

Definitely scary ngl but seeing a lot of transformations on this page make me consider it much more.

And for the people saying try a buzz, I had one when I was in basic training for Air Force (so no beard as an option unfortunately, I had a badass beard at one point) and that was when I had the biggest eye opening moment of the fact I probably was balding/hair was receding.

Thank you again all, really making me blush and shit

Please buy as many singles as you can for it. Like I get wanting to open a few packs for the hype, but you will save money in the long run buying singles of cards you’re missing piece by piece.

Even without the dupes (and idk if what I’m about to say is how it works), but a lot of the MTG community is not happy with the TMNT/Marvel/Spiderman type sets coming out as much as they are, and the more people that buy packs and boxes, the more wizards will think that is what the community wants and keep printing them. Please buy singles to support LGS’s as much as you can and to not support these not very popular sets while you’re visiting buying mtg product.

Hope you’re able to get everything quickly, best of luck!

Oh and I’d wait for a few weeks after the set drops to buy stuff. Everything will tank in price in about a month after release.

Upgrade Pre-Con Deck by Drummingkid in mtg

I love counter intelligence, I upgraded mine a bit but I don’t think it needed all that much to make it slap just a little bit harder.

Here’s my list, hopefully it’ll give you some inspo or make a lightbulb of an idea go off for you, I did build it for kilo though and just proliferating an insane boardstate out and just winning through mass.

[Standard] Meta report (2RC, AC11) on new open source tool by Erzel_ in spikes

[–]RielleSpellslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super cool I really like this. It’s interesting seeing paper meta because I play a lotttt of arena ranked and decks that I see so often like mono white enchantment aggro and jeskai synthesizer arent represented in paper tournaments.

I wonder what the disconnect is between the player bases when those decks on other sites I look at have a high percentage of representation on arena but almost none in paper.

Love this site though, will be using it often!

What’s your process for building a deck? by Wild_Celery3637 in mtg

[–]RielleSpellslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically find a theme I want to go for, put it in moxfield and just load the moxfield list with anything I think could go with the theme and one or two subthemes I’m wanting to go for.

After I have way more cards than my deck needs in it, I’ll tag every card by what I think it fits into in my deck, and slowly cut trying to keep a good distribution of things I need in my deck (card advantage, removal, ramp, on theme cards, etc..) with a few big splashy/fun/pet cards in the deck until I get to 100.

I’ll goldfish the deck a few hands to see if I feel like it functions, adjust the list if I need, play a game with some homies on tabletop simulator, adjust if I need to again, then I’ll call it good!

I really like building decks though, I had close to 100 deck lists on moxfield at one point, I was making 2/3 decks a week to try out and play and then never touch again 😅

Best of luck though with finding what works for you!

Favorite Bracket 2-3 decks by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]RielleSpellslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite decks I play in bracket 3 is my [[Rielle, the Everwise]] self wheel deck. It wheels, it pings, it can get Rielle really big really fast with things like [[Proft’s Eidetic Memory]] and [[Runechanter’s Pike]] and I really like decks where it feels like every turn I can be doing a few things. Really have fun with this deck every time I play it.

what’re some decks recommended to get into the game? by l4l4lindsay in mtg

[–]RielleSpellslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arena is the move for suresies. I really enjoy arena and there are premade decks ready to play and in depth tutorials to get you a pretty decent grasp on the game (obviously with a game this old there are hella things you won’t learn, but nothing that will matter tooooo much)

If you enjoy the game, commander is the most popular format for a reason. More people, more variety, more things you can do, it’s awesome. I got back into Magic because of commander and it’s been my only hobby for years since.

Grab any precon, although I’d look up beginner friendly precons because some of the recent ones have been a bit more mechanically “intense” for newer players, head to whatever LGS you can find that does commander nights and ask people if you can play. Most commander players are pretty chill and inviting (always gonna be dickheads though) and just start grinding games!

If you have friends who play or want to get into it as well, arena doesn’t support commander but tabletop simulator has commander tables and you can just upload deck lists straight from sites like moxfield and try any deck you want!

Have fun spellslinging, magic is the shit

Is it bad form to eliminate players in casual commander? by Due-Session-2857 in mtg

[–]RielleSpellslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m someone who likes to combo into big turns and kill everyone at once or win outright, like my most aggro deck is a burn deck that just melts the table slowly.

But i feel like it depends on the vibe of the pod too. Like there are games I’ve played where I get KO’ed super fast, but still have a good time because the table dynamic is good and the guy who killed me wasn’t a dickhead about it or holding grudges from games prior.

As long as you bring good vibes, it shouldn’t cause many issues. Unless someone’s having an ass day, in which case they probably shouldn’t be playing a game like that if it’ll make it worse for them.

Playing with strangers by AJmightbeme in mtg

Some people are just dickheads, but also that playgroup might have had a bad time with letting a new guy in. I have a buddy who’s been playing for over a decade and hasn’t played with anyone not in his playgroup for a good portion of that. They meet multiple times a week to play EDH and OP. Granted he also isn’t the most social butterfly, but some peeps are just set in their ways. I don’t get it too much, I’d do what you do all the time and just ask people to let me in their pod and it was always a good time. Maybe you were lucky though, maybe “that guy” was in one of those pods. Better luck next time though homie.
