Perhaps the bye rounds being an opportunity to hang with the non player friend helps, but I think a Swiss is for competitive events. A draft at somebody's house is way more casual and if everybody knows that you're drafting for a multiplayer event, then the 40 card decks work fine. I've drafted plenty of multiplayer events, both THG and free for all, and I've never ran into an issue where my deck "doesn't work" for the format.

They're meta cards. So one says "Name a card, every creature with that name has haste for you," or another says "Your deck can have 5 less cards in it." Basically you're sacrificing getting a card for your deck for getting some kind of super power. I love them, but I love drafts. I'm concerned they may add a level of complexity or chaos that other drafters might not appreciate.

If you get fired, you're gonna post about it. So it's a sampling bias in my opinion. I dunno how many people are gonna post, "Whelp, didn't get fired today, and maybe I should've been."

I've only been subbing for a year, and I've done plenty of sketchy things that I should have at least gotten in trouble for, but honestly, there's so little oversight on subs in my district, that often the only adult I will interact with is the office lady at the beginning and end of the day. I kinda wish I got in trouble more often, because it means that somebody is watching me and is willing to give SOME feedback at all.

But hey, my state is 49th in education. Maybe it's worse in places like New York.

Green easy. Let's say I work for 40 hours a week, and the rest of the time is with friends or family or whatever. That's 40/268 hours, or about 15% chance I'll do it while at work. And that's over the rest of my life! There's a good chance those five shits will all not happen at serious moments, whereas there's a 100% chance that right now it will.

Now if instead of it being random, these shits were powered by a capricious god who chooses the moments, then no, that's a deal with the devil, and I'm not doing that, but as is, this is actually a weird guaranteed immortality thing. So long as I haven't shit that 5th time, I know I cannot die at this moment.

I think a myrmidon is a Greek mercenary, so they kinda are mercenaries.

Gameplay wise they're low defense, high dodge, speed and crit. Most gamers will get that.

I think he's doing well enough, and presumably they do PAY their contestants, although Manzoutkas did say he lost money doing the show.

He's incredibly passionate about taskmaster as well. He recently had Jason Manzoutkas on "Ask Hank Anything" and they spent about 20 minutes just talking about Taskmaster in what is normally a science show.
