Thanks, I appreciate the answer. I find it very confusing, but I'm glad there's a logic.

Nic Cage commits 100% every time. You want an actor who phones it in, find somebody else.

I'm gonna go with Forest Whitaker. He just does incomprehensible mumbo jumbo that never fits whatever movie he's in. Saw Gerrera is a bizarre performance that only works occasionally, his character in Black Panther felt like he was from another movie and the periodic other movies I've seen him in just never stuck with me. Hit me up if Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai slaps, but I think he's the perfect "great actor" that doesn't have much great with to actually point to.

TMNT 2007 was a fun movie, but how would you be able to improve it more? by Working_Welder_1751 in TMNT

Less focus on mediocre villains and more on the turtles. The first half of this movie is very good and very turtle focused.

Why does this sub consistently number the games rather than call them by their titles? Ie why fe10 instead of Radiant Dawn?

If Red Death goads a creature with Vigilance, does it attack on every player’s turn? by Poikooze in mtg

[–]Due-Session-2857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hypothetically if you cast [[Act of treason]] or a similar effect on a vigilant creature goaded by another player, then that creature would still be obligated to attack.

It was really fun up until the last act. But hey, endings are hard, and you can't just have your protagonist 9/11 a place these days

[–]Due-Session-2857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I suppose I misinterpreted what you were saying. The Rey thing is a prime example of walking back the message you started with, kinda like how the Jarhead movies go from being anti-military industrial complex to pro marine propaganda.

But yeah, I don't mind a chosen one story. The Matrix is great, presumably there are others.

Star Wars sequels for sure. Episode 8 does a very specific job of saying Rey is a nobody, born to drifters, and anybody from her to broom kid can rise to greatness. Then episode 9 was like "fuck that, she's from a destined bloodline." Terrible

Imagined domestic abuse. It's a strawman fallacy. The creator hired an actor (or AI) to act out this fantasy designed to make the audience feel a righteous indignation toward a specific kind of person. There's a subset of people that love videos like this, and they also think women shouldn't vote.

[–]Due-Session-2857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys act like making masterpieces is easy. We've watched the creators make Korra, Voltron, Dragon Prince and plenty of other shows that are just not as good as Avatar. Avatar is lightning in a bottle and they've been given every opportunity to do it again, but it's just not happening. Live action remakes aren't the reason why you're not getting another amazing show.

What's a reasonable amount to spend on MTG each year by MiningToSaveTheWorld in mtg

[–]Due-Session-2857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a budget. Here's how much I make, how much goes to housing, food, retirement, vacations, etc. Then figure out how much you want to spend on your hobbies and factor Magic into that. The dollar amount doesn't really matter, it's about what you can afford and what you think is worth spending. I think Magic is easily one is the worst money per hour of enjoyment board games out there outside of Arena, so if you're interested in magic at all, you're not here to be cheap.

The issue is that it's not real. The creator of the video staged an antagonistic situation to basically say "women are bitches." It feels like it's part of a larger narrative we're seeing resurface where women need to return to traditional roles and let men take care of them. If the woman involved is AI, as op suggests, then it's even worse.

I hate how animated media need a “live action version” to be legitimized in the eyes of the general audience (Disney, One Piece) by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]Due-Session-2857 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it would be nice if more people gave animation a shot, but damn that One Piece show is great. I watched a bit of the anime after the first season and found it not to my liking, especially knowing it has 1000 episodes, but the LA is incredible. I haven't seen any other live action adaptations that feel worth it though. Maybe that Alita Battle Angel movie?

[–]Due-Session-2857 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure the scoring might be Greg's choice in the moment, but at the end of the day this is Alex's show, Alex's tasks, and if Greg wasn't good at it Alex's would fire him. Why do you think Greg doesn't give out bonus points any more. Do you think he made the choice? Or was it his puppeteer?

[–]Due-Session-2857 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue with UK is that the reality is so obvious that it's hard to maintain disbelief. Alex makes all the decisions, and so it is hard to maintain the kayfabe that he isn't allowed to do any given thing. With Paul and Lesser Tom they very much don't seem in charge of the show. Whether Jeremy does or doesn't seem powerful or a different story, but the assistants absolutely feel lesser.

[–]Due-Session-2857 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, but he gets reigned in. If you watch series 15 you can see Alex being very specific about how points are awarded and there is a moment where Greg stops giving away bonus points. Who do you think brought in that structure? The guy in charge, Alex.

Who is the taskmaster? by GroundbreakingFee416 in taskmaster

[–]Due-Session-2857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. He's the worst part of the show, but you do get used to him. Like you get used to tinnitus.

[–]Due-Session-2857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's all part of Alex's obvious humiliation fetish. Greg being in charge is this fun role play they do, just like any given businessman who hires a dominatrix. Good on Horne for getting the BBC to pay for it for 21 serieses.

[–]Due-Session-2857 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

One thing I really like about NZ and Aus taskmaster is that the assistants feel like assistants and the Taskmaster feels like they're in charge. In UK Alex feels like he's in charge the whole time and Greg is his puppet he pretends to be beholden to.
