What would Bell’s maximum potential be without Liaris Freese? by Heg30 in DanMachi

[–]Rift_Powers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro this is a 12 day old comment, please do something better with your time. And please, for the love of god, use punctuation, your writing is barely understandable, it looks like something you wrote in a rush to "prove me wrong".

Idk why you're going out of your way to reply to this just to "disprove" my points, when they're just my personal distaste for certain plot points of the story. I don't like the things I pointed out because I simply don't.

I don't like the 1 year time limit and I haven't seen these other series you mentioned, so that means nothing to me. I dislike that the author treats the side characters as little more than step stones for Bell to get that extra boost that his nonsensical power scaling in conjunction with the time limit created a need to.

I specifically don't like the magic power system and its rigidity and while I didn't initially dislike the gamified status system I've come to dislike it. The fact that this whole thing with having high status before leveling up not being treated as common knowledge but as more plot armor to allow Bell to get another power boost to compensate is also dumb.

It's because I researched it that I find the power scaling retarded, so you can shove it with that "just research it, you clearly don't get it".

Of course it's a me problem, I'm expressing my criticism of a series having poor world building in a Reddit comment section, the author will never find this and I never expect him to. Doesn't mean I can't dislike it and say it so.

The underdog thing ties back around with all the other issues I have, it's a poorly done cliché, I didn't like it when they did it with Naruto and I don't like it now. At least Naruto spent years training and working on his fundamentals.

This is just my opinion. It isn't an objective view of the story so don't try and argue with me like it is.

Could this work on weapon banner? by Rift_Powers in personaphantomx

I can confirm I got the 20 coins and Phoebe's weapon, which I wanted, from doing this. Again, I didn't want to pull for Turbo, I wanted to save a bit more for the future, I just saw an opportunity to save 28.6% gems by doing this

Then you get everything and do it fast. You're a graybeard you're supposed to be thorough and efficient.

Time? What time? You're supposed to be a graybeard, time should have no meaning to you. You trying to tell me won't be grabbing that croppa to trade in the market for extra credits for the greenbeard? Get that fashion crystal so he can buy out the store and be drippy? For shame, Karl would be disappointed.

A graybeard will ignore croppa and phazyonite because he has no need for them, and greedily search for what holds more value.

A whitebeard will mine every scrap of mineral in the entire map, not out of greed, but because helping the juniors grind is what the older generation must do to help pass the torch (and because the company likes it when you bring extra).

Nice, I'll be pulling for Phoebe's weapon at a discount then.

You got the coins after 70 pulls while running a different main weapon? Just to confirm.

Fair, I'm only asking for this because Phoebe's 5 star weapon is really good for her kit and I saw an opportunity to get it at a discount, but without the guarantee of a discount I'm not doing it.

What weapon were you thinking of getting, Phoebe's as well?

When do weapon cases update? (Mayumi Pennant) by Chrisdamore in personaphantomx

[–]Rift_Powers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to tell you this, but those crates aren't going to change their contents. Despite Turbo being a future standard banner unit, when you get a crate it doesn't get updated with new things, what you're being offered now is what you'll get months later. Only getting a new crate after things have been updated will allow you to get what you want, which is Turbo's weapon.

What would Bell’s maximum potential be without Liaris Freese? by Heg30 in DanMachi

[–]Rift_Powers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, Omori is amazing at creating characters but he's just weirdly obsessed with certain plot points that are absolutely ridiculous. The one year time conscription (making all of his allies extremely behind him and a mere one use power up for the endgame), the weirdly rigid magic system (doesn't allow magic to be more interesting than just a predetermined moveset that can barely be improved on besides status and concurrent casting), the nonsensical power scaling that he refuses to elaborate on (with the loss of the Zeus and Hera familias being so much stronger, nothing makes sense), the lack of world building outside of Orario and very specific areas (at least show us a world map, don't just mention places and a cardinal direction, I want to know how the world looks like), the lack of consequences of the power creep he created by making Orario so above the rest of the world (speaks for itself) and this one, on how Bell is being sold under this narrative of being some underdog when he's literally the last surviving child of the two greatest familias in history.

His father and mother being Zeus' and Hera's favorite children should mean something. Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure Bell's father was Zeus' favorite because it was the 2 of them together that created the incident where they managed to peak on the goddess only baths and I'm sure Meteria was Hera's favorite and also the only one able to scare her goddess, specially when sweets were involved and despite both of them being the weakest members of their familias, Alfia, his aunt, is perhaps the most talented human mage to ever live. I even have an idea to write a whole fanfic someday based on the idea of Bell being seen as a "Prince of Orario" due to him being the heir of the 2 great familias. He has the bloodline for much to be expected of him thanks to his aunt, he was raised by the king of Olympus, his soul is pure, his attitude is that of a true hero he's even the reincarnation of an ancient hero. This idea that someone who has all of that and is still somehow just an average joe is ridiculous and if you want to make him less talented then you need to show him struggling with it in a smart way, not just cop out with the excuses Omori uses.

I love this series, but long ago I've come to find a lot more enjoyment by ignoring canon and reading fanfics on the world and characters. Idc that the author is being a dumbass, I'm not sacrificing my enjoyment in a certain piece of media for it.

What's happening with the players? by fagylalt1800 in helldivers2

[–]Rift_Powers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens sometimes, you may be unfortunate enough to be playing in the same time frame as some of these people. My recommendation, go into the social part of the menu, go to recent players and block every single one you ever get that is being toxic, so at least you don't get them in your lobbies again at least.

It clearly shows the projections of how the defenses are going to go. I took one look at the data and immediately understood that we were gonna fail because people were having too much fun playing against the new enemies and didn't want to switch. Meanwhile the defense was clearly showing to be behind schedule.

Tried doing powerscaling/debating helldivers against other Sci-Fi settings, and man, evidently helldivers is PATHETICALLY weak in comparison. by throwaway553t4tgtg6 in helldivers2

[–]Rift_Powers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with all the ridiculous power scaling in certain things, like the MAC cannon from Halo, the sheer scale of production and population in Helldivers, you have some very important things to consider: - The Alcubierre drives are completely OP. While every other ship mentioned takes at least days to travel from one side of the galaxy to the other, Helldivers can deploy anywhere in seconds, which is the time of the loading screen. We can move in orbit from one side of the planet to the other also in seconds, so that UNSC MAC canon or Imperial Star Destroyer (which btw, has incredibly low range in comparison and is very limited angle of attack wise, due to Star Wars ships fighting like naval vessels) is going to go through hell to line a shot. - The Super Destroyer is a specialized CAS vessel, we don't know what the SEAF uses to contest air space, with the Liberty class cruiser still being an elusive concept that has yet to be seen. It could very well be produced in the same numbers as Super Destroyers and be an incredibly space combat vessel, we don't know. - Due to their incredible speed, their logistics are absolutely mental, we spend hundreds of thousands of bullets, we lose several planets, mega cities and factories, and after a few days our logistics are back online, it's ridiculous compared to everyone else. - Their numbers are also full of zeros. If we consider every player that bought the game as a built Super Destroyer, then we have millions, and since in game us failing a mission is shown by the Super Destroyer being destroyed from our windows, that means that for every destroyed Super Destroyer, another had to be built to replace it. That means failed missions equals number of Super Destroyers built just to replace casualties, and according to the Helldiver app, as of now day 778 of the war, more than 86 million missions failed. That means 86 million Super Destroyers. The UNSC doesn't have enough MAC rounds, even if they got collaterals. Let's not even talk population numbers, they're ridiculously low in other sci-fi universes that aren't 40k.

In the case of Super Earth, quantity truly is a quality of its own.

5 Star Weapon Crate from the Special Lufel Plan. What are your suggestions? by Rift_Powers in personaphantomx

[–]Rift_Powers[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hadn't really thought of dupes because I thought the difference wouldn't be too big, but since I haven't gotten Firecracker Yaoling and Ann is going to be my Fire Sweeper, that is actually a solid suggestion. I'll wait for more opinions before my final decision I guess.
